Toronto -- A young woman called police yesterday to report she had been robbed of $20 worth of marijuana in what is believed to be the first such case since an Ontario judge said possession of less than 30 grams of pot is no longer illegal.York Regional Police say they are taking the case seriously and will do their best to retrieve the 18-year-old's stolen property. "We've never had someone call us before and say, 'Someone stole my marijuana,'" Constable Steve Morrell said.
"But kids obviously feel comfortable enough to do that now."The woman told police she was hanging out in a schoolyard in Thornhill, an affluent suburb of Toronto, when two teenage boys on mountain bikes approached and asked if she had any marijuana. She produced two small bags the young men quickly snatched away. When she tried to grab the bags back, one of the teenagers said he had a handgun, according to the police report."We are investigating. A crime was committed. We don't have the option of saying one type of crime is not important to us."Police say they have noticed an increase in marijuana smoking among teens since Ontario Superior Court Justice Steven Rogin upheld a lower court decision acquitting a 15-year-old boy of marijuana possession on May 16. Of Course, the Court Made the Decision, escapegoat
But they don't advertise. And the police in some jurisdictions were/are ignoring the ruling. Brave people, like Marc Emery and Manitoba Activist John Wood of Sweet Hemptations, had to put their own freedom on the line to convince the law enforcement community that the law has changed. A federal law can either be in effect in all provinces or nullified in all provinces.ego transcendence follows ego destruction, step up to the plate, peace and pot.

You mean, they are finally listening to the Court!
The police in Ontario have NO LEGAL AUTHORITY to conficate ANYONE'S LEGAL MARIJAUANA (cannabis sativa, cannabis indica, cannabis ruderalis). NO LEGAL AUTHORITY. NONE.

They Are Finally Listening to Marc Emery.
from the snipped portion: Const. Morrell noted that police can confiscate beer if they catch teenagers drinking in public, but says no law exists that allows them to confiscate marijuana.ego transcendence trumps ego destruction, stand up for your rights.

Mr. Johnson
I'd like to try to shed some light. As a songrwriter and musician myself, I can tell you that even though you are on to something there, at the same time, lots of things can influence the way you write, most of all subconscious dialogues, tensions and emotions, etc. Usually when someone writes boring music it's because they are very emotionally stable, nothing is really wrong in their life, and they are in a pretty passive state. Or worse still, it may be a calculated attempt at commercial music.I've been hearing about that Liz Phair album for many years and have been meaning to check it out. But that was a long time ago that it came out. Musicians coonstantly evolve (for better or worse) and I can tell you that in most cases a songwriter will never be able to match the brilliance of an earlier work in the same way as before because his/her life and mind are just in a very different place in that later phase. You can bet if she started smoking pot again it might break her out of her disinterested state and change her work for the better in some way, but if you wait for her to equal what is obviously her once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece, you will be disappointed. Similarly, I'd love to see Phil Collins stop making this corporate baby-milk music and do another intense brooding record like his first solo one, but it ain't gonna happen. His life is in a completely different place now, and so is Liz's.MF

A letter I just sent
There's an artist Liz Phair whose first album Exile in Guyville was really brilliant and rebellious and unique, musically as well as lyrically, but whose most recent album is being dissed as commercial pablum ala Britney Spears. In an interview she confessed that when doing her first album she smoked pot all day, but gave up pot after getting married and having a child. The New York Times is soliciting questions for her from readers so here is the one I sent in:"Dear Liz, You said that when you did your first album, you were smoking pot all day. I have to admit, I really don't like your new work. Would you consider going back to smoking pot all day if it meant you could recover the brilliance you showed in your first album?"It's like her genius has just evaporated. Maybe there is a real connection between marijuana and rebellious instincts, because her later work is not at all like her earlier work. Her pot-inspired work was sharp and critical and ultra-observant and ultra-original. Her post-pot work is dull and ordinary and compliant and derivative, and not nearly as successful as her first album was.
