A recent letter from James R. McDonough, director for the Office of Drug Control for Florida, challenged virtually all of the evidence supporting the medical benefits of marijuana.
He then went on to lecture us to wait for medical science to ''root out'' the true medical benefits. Unlike the expensive synthetic marinol, the benefits of this simple plant can be delivered in about any way imaginable (eaten, inhaled, smoked, etc.). This is not the issue.Drug warriors like McDonough and his current boss, Gov. Jeb Bush, have been amazingly successful in prohibiting any scientific research in the past. And, no doubt, they will continue to ignore any evidence that fails to back up their politically correct, but sadly ignorant, stance.Taxpayers paid for an extensive study commissioned by President Nixon in the '70s that recommended decriminalization of marijuana. The results were not what Nixon expected, so he ignored them. I hope that is not the road we're on now.DANIEL E. MAKLEYhttp://www.jug-or-not.com/can/index.html

Jesse and MJ
I do not think it is really Jesse fighting back MJ. It is our legislators. Mine Kenric Schveel will not even tell me why he is against medical MJ nor will Fran Bradley. Try to get the Mayo Clinic to change incorrect information on their site and even show them the science and they ignore you. I think it is mostly a Republican thing here in Minnesota. Jesse will sign the Hemp bill. Please ask your legislator Why they won't support MJ and suggest that their arguments might be soft, of course you need to be able to present the data.If our legislators are challenged they may not say no so much.Actually I told Keneric that I would provide the knowledge but he had to gain the compassion. As Jesse has shown us Grass roots can work. Be a lobbyist with the legislators.CheersTom

minn gov.
please don't use Jesse as a model, I voted for him and have been very disappointed in his actions. 60 million for a train to the mega mall ( who does that help) Medical Mj. took advice of old time anti drug person, Would be too much of a risk to expose minn. people to duel laws so as long as fed law say no to med MJ. Minn law will also be the same the old catch 22 junk. I will admitt it is fun to see him shove his big foot in his mouth almost everytime he speaks but it does make him and all Minn. people look like fools. He has become what he said he hated a politician. peace and end this war. mota20

bush again
If your are a stoner or a hempster and you can vote, you had damn well exercise your right to do it come next presidential election. There will be a Bush in the running and he won't dare back of the anti drug, anti creativity minded peaceminded individuals like most of the people on this area of the net. If you don't vote against these type of individuals like George Jr. and his brother Jeb then don't dare bitch, whine and moan, it's just as much your fault as it is theirs. Please take it from someone that has seen it firsthand, if we stick together on what we believe we can make a difference at the polls. I am an old stoner from 1969 and I've seen too many people my age forget what they had protested for and against in the 60's. They have become a bunch of hypocrites, in their voting, in their parenting, and in their lives. I keep holping the younger generation won't make the same mistakes that their parents did and would not only vote but vote for candidates that would be for a more live and let live philosophy about life. Do what they did in Minnesota and vote in someone that has not sold out to the major coporations , don't vote for those old croggies that have been in there for a zillion years just so you can get your slice of pork, make a change. I don't care if he or she is gay and crossdresses and talks to frogs, if he or she makes sense as a bonifide visionary of what this country could become if society were more open then vote for the SOB. Peace
