The controversial debate over marijuana decriminalization heats up again this week in the House of Commons with the tabling of a multi-purpose marijuana bill. Polls indicate a majority of Canadians support decriminalization and recent court decisions echo this sentiment. But will the government acquiesce and leave itself open to criticism from a still vocal minority opposed to the bill? As events unfold, CBC Newsworld and CBC Television present a daylong examination of the issues surrounding marijuana decriminalization. CBC News: Big Picture "Going to Pot" airs on both networks on Tuesday, May 27.
CBC News: Big Picture "Going to Pot" is explored throughout the day on most CBC Newsworld programming and on CBC Television news programs such as CBC News: Morning, CBC News: Today, Canada Now and The National. Highlights include: CBC News: Morning - Host Alison Smith interviews politicians, drug activists, law enforcement workers and other newsmakers at the heart of the marijuana decriminalization debate. Live in Saint John, New Brunswick, Harry Forestell reports from the Pot Cafe. (CBC-TV from 6 - 7 a.m. local, CBC Newsworld from 6 - 10:30 a.m. ET) CBC News: Today - Nancy Wilson interviews newsmakers involved on both sides of the marijuana decriminalization debate and presents a report that examines whether the proposed bill would contribute to higher pot use among Canadian youth. (CBC Television and CBC Newsworld at noon) Newsworld Today - Live from Toronto, Christopher Thomas presents a profile of Alan Young, a Toronto lawyer involved in the decriminalization movement, and a report on the effect of marijuana-related arrests on the Canadian court system. "I was outraged and stayed until I was certain he was going to physically remove me," Mrs. Nalepka said. "Not wanting to embarrass myself, I did leave. But the more I think of their gestapo tactics, the angrier I get." Interesting choice of words, Ms. Nalepka. It makes me wonder... is there any security video?

Enough is Enough
4 years ago I was detained 10 days at Batavia Prison for a 21yr old pot possession record in Ontario.I was attempting to visit my now American wife to discuss wedding plans.Result: Ongoing embarrassing moments which included no traditional wedding in the U.S.,no family Christmas's,confirmations, birthdays, graduations, weddings helping my ill motherinlaw etc..However the look and tears on my wife's face each time she visit's her family alone is the most hurting of all.Adding insult to injury, after refusing my waiver application to cross the border the U.S immigration added that attempt to cross to my criminal record.I think I've done my time for one joint 25 yrs ago.Enough is enough.

Enough criminal records and lost opportunities.Enough wasted resources.Enough debates.Enough U.S. intimidation. Its just a weed that can make one feel a bit loopy.

About Canadian News
I watch News World International as my primary TV News source. They seem honest and they appear to speak truthfully. They don't show prejudice. I'm looking forward to the 27th! Go Canada!
