Tips for California medical marijuana activists -- Making Democracy Work.1. Publicize stories and situations where Prop 215 is working successfully. Work to create these situations. Underwrite them fiscally if you have to. But if you publicize a case, make certain that it's a victory.
2. Make time physically to join us in October/November when we return to Sacramento to legalize Sales and get "Possession for Sale" knocked off the books. This still needs to be done. 3. Use your public stature to educate the public about the ongoing campaign to unleash the Free Market as the distribution mechanism called for by Proposition 215. 4. Publicizing cases that appear to erode the validity of Prop 215 is a destructive thing to do. Criticize and discredit any attempt at eroding the validity and standing of Proposition 215. This includes the liberal (closet case) Democrats who say Prop 215 hasn't been implemented (while pot is being returned around the state) and it includes those who claim that federal law supercedes state in this area (without so much as one convincing, clear legal case to prove it). 5. Check out the www.marijuana.org website for some interesting California stories and photo's from the Lake County Cannabis Farm (run by and for patients). Grow your own medical marijuana (after you get documented by your doctor). Be public.6. Tune in to the 'doctrine of medical necessity' and help educate others in this concept. This is a very strong argument when you want to win in court, particularly if the law in question needs to be changed still.Be Positive, Honest, Optimistic, Patient yet Persistent.
