Public outrage over the January 19th raid on the Kubby Family has resulted in over 100 news stories and editorials condemning their illegal arrest. Thousands of angry e-mails and faxes flooded the Placer County authorities and local papers reported a record number of letters to the editor. 
The raid began early in the morning when twenty SWAT team members from the North Tahoe Narcotics Task Force, armed with laser guided automatic weapons, body armor and a battering ram raided the Kubbys in open violation of Prop. 215, a law the Kubbys played a key role in passing. The Orange County Register called the Kubby arrest an "Outrage in Law," while the OC Weekly called it "The Drug Warriors' worst mistake."
