February's High Times magazine takes the search for the historical Jesus to a place some might not want to go: the use of cannabis-infused oil for anointing leaders and healing the sick.In an article titled "Was Jesus a Stoner?," author and Canadian television host Chris Bennett argues that Jesus and his followers used an oil made from a Hebrew recipe noted in Exodus 30: 22-33. That mixture contained kaneh-bosem, a substance some scientists identify as cannabis extracted into a mixture of olive oil and herbs.
Bennett, an advocate for the legalization of marijuana for medical use, says Jesus used the holy oil not only to treat such ailments as epilepsy and skin diseases, but also to baptize his 12 apostles before sending them out to help others. "And they cast out many devils and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them," Mark the gospeler says in Chapter 6.Critics have accused Bennett of using Jesus to push his own agenda, but Carl Ruck, a professor of classics at Boston University, said Bennett makes a strong case. "Over the centuries, drugs have been used by virtually all religions," Ruck wrote in the Sunday Times of London. Roger said it!
as Ed is the living crucifixtion of Christ, whether he gets 10 years or a life sentence. Of which he will not have to serve, as this criminal judge is quickly realizing, (or sacrifice the 'appearance' of the courts supposed fairness and impartiality to the required reformation of the legal system). Write that book Roger, 'The Last Marijuana Trial" The movie, 'Ed Rosenthals Great Cannabis Adventure!' Will no doubt be out in the theatres shortly, Hollywood is abuzz with scripts being submitted right now! We know it has a happy ending! Popcorn sales are gonna rock! Talk about happy theatre managers! Legalization/normlization is coming to a place called America, as Al Gordiano would say!

From the revolving quotes at Cannabis Culture.
"There are some who fry and consume the seed together with other desserts. Desserts are foods consumed after dinner for pleasure and to stimulate an appetite for drinking. The seeds create a warm feeling and, consumed excessively, affect the head by sending it a warm and toxic vapor. . . . It eliminates farting and dehydrates so much that if too much is eaten it quenches sexual potency. Some folks squeeze its juice when fresh and use it as an analgesic for ear pains."
- Galen, c.160 AD -

  The last marijuana trial?
Dear Friends,Have we seen the last marijuana trial and conviction? Is Ed Rosenthal literally the last one? Follow me on this thought...As far as I know, in the 1700's in Salem, Massachusetts there was on one day, literally, the very last 'witch' trial. The horror of centuries ended abruptly with one person, the preacher's wife. Why? How?The pendelum just swung too damn far with the news that their local 'Mrs. Preacher' was the next to go down.
It was too much to bear that now - anyone -could be the next one accused. The mirror had turned one click too far...if it could be 'her'...it could be anyone! If it could be anyone then it could be ME and it can't be ME!A great big "Oops!" must have occured and then peace and sanity started to return. It was finally over. With the court-verifyable news that Jesus used cannabis in his healing ministry now available to everyone - everywhere - anyone claiming a 'religious exemption' has more than 'reasonable doubt' in the mind of any juror in the land! State or federal. One joint or cultivation of thousands of plants. Please see my website for legal precedents and details. My prayer is that the outrageous trial and conviction of our dear brother Ed Rosenthal is the last one...ever! All the very best to you and yours...love, Roger

Roger Christie
Roger Christie,I share Your view: The spirit of Jesus IS returning to assist us, to help free us from our bondage.
Jesus gave Us the promised HOly Spirit of Truth (Our HOST) and said it would be the tool We would need and use to relate to Christ. Through Our HOST, We can talk to Christ and He talks to Us through that HOST. He told Us how to get it, use it, keep it etc. He told Us how to know who has it, why some don’t and told Us to test the spirits in order to know what is going on.Through the HOST, We can have a better relationship with Jesus Christ, TODAY, than what the 12 had that walked with Him.I testify that The Holy Spirit of Truth is real. It must be considered what is next, once people become Christian, yet it seems most Christians, even long time Christians, know nothing about Our HOST. That is a sign of failed spiritual leaders. The only way We are going to stop caging humans for using the plant cannabis, is through Christ and the Holy Spirit of Truth. +Chris Bennett has been able to get His concept out to more newspapers lately, including the one posted here a couple days ago that is very good, from the Boulder Weekly, titled Everybody’s High. With much info from, Raphael Mechoulam of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, I highly recommend this article. http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread15347.shtml Everybody’s High.To ALL: through the Holy Spirit of Truth, thank God for cannabis / kaneh bosm. Ask the HOST to show You the Truth as He wishes for You to know it.The Green Collar Worker

It's THE 'defense to prosecution' of all.
Dear People,Aloha and greetings. What a terrific news piece! Brief and thin, but a significator, a symbol of MAJOR positivity, in my optimistic opinion. Why?'Defense to prosecution', that's why. 'Reasonable doubt' in the mind of any juror in the land to cannabis charges, state or federal. It works on the mind and heart of the individual juror. You just need one to acknowledge a 'reasonable doubt' and vote to aquit anyone who claims a religious exemption for herb. Now we have court-verifyable information that everyone, everywhere can use to get free! Please check-out my website, if you haven't already. I have created a 'defense to prosecution' for cannabis that is working 100% of the time, as far as I know. It has worked for dozens of people in a few different states, and at the Canadian border with U.S. Customs. Now it will work even better. The spirit of Jesus IS returning to assist us, to help free us from our bondage. Amazing.

Just a Comment
This little article was written with no emotion or conviction. It shows me that it really means nothing. Give me a sincere article for or against cannabis reform and I will read it and try to understand. In all the anti drug commercials we've all seen recently I saw one that I actually thought was well done. It's a father talking about how he needs to care where his son is and what he is involved in. The boy looks like he minds but it also looks like he knows that he better listen. That is how it should be. Between parent and child and not government and probation officers and even possible jail time.

I agree P...
What a strange article. No follow up? No questions to any christian leaders? Just throw it out there. John Ashcroft is a devout Christian. I wonder what he would say about this; and isnt he into anoiting himself with oil and such.

202 words
Now what kind of filler is this to the WP advertising? So the guy reads High Times and looks at the Sunday Times on the Internet and writes 202 words. That is one way to hold down expenses and leave room for that corporate advertising that overrides any journalistic standard. My main reason for pulling out the keyboard though, was the last paragraphs above. I could not believe that the last line was an isolated quote without a source and that the last quotation mark was missing. I checked out the source- http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13419-2003Feb2.html - and the last line should belong with the paragraph above it. However the closing quotation mark was left out of WP article. Are these guys using college students to get material and editing too to keep down costs?
