Relax Dudes, U.S. Told

Loosening Canada's pot laws will improve security at the border, not bog it down, Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham said yesterday. Graham downplayed reports that the U.S. is prepared to re-assign border guards working the U.S.-Mexico border, to work on the northern border should Canada go ahead and decriminalize possession of small amounts of pot.
"Some people in the United States have said it will raise problems at the border, so we'll see if that's true," Graham told CTV's Question Period. "I don't believe it will because I think we'll do it in a way which reduces the tensions." Last week, a Commons committee recommended Canada bring in legislation that would mean possession of 30 grams of pot would result in nothing more than a ticket and no criminal record. A Senate committee went further and recommended Ottawa legalize pot altogether. NEW DOPE LAWS BY MARCH Justice Minister Martin Cauchon responded to the Commons report by announcing he's prepared to introduce new pot laws by March. But U.S. drug czar John Walters said an estimated 95% of the high-grade pot, from provinces like British Columbia, is already making its way into his country. "It's a dangerous phenomenon and it's making Canada a supply country," Walters said yesterday. "It's complicating our security at the border, and it's obviously already compounding a problem we're trying to deal with." Liberal MP Paddy Torsney, who chaired the committee, argued Canadians are ready for decriminalization, but not legalization. "We don't think Canadians are there ... There's already other countries in the world that have done some decriminalization, and we need to see if these programs are going to work for Canada." The Courage of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
The same Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, whose Liberal party is moving toward decriminalization of cannabis possession and cultivation, may stand up to the US "drug czar" if Chrétien's stance on Kyoto is any indication. He is in favor of Kyoto even though the US, under Bush, has backed out, and even though Alberta Premier Klein (preaching that jobs will be lost in trying to get cleaner air) is dead set against it.Kyoto now part of Canada's landscape

He also got in a dig against those who predicted the issue would split his party and endanger his leadership. "I remember some of you writing that Chrétien would break his neck over Kyoto ... Merry Christmas," he told
reporters.ego destruction or ego transcendence, that is the question for each human and for the planet.

Simple Meditation #1: Inhale /Exhale, Add Cannabis
For those of you that practice the non-violent civil disobedience of public or private cannabis use, please enjoy some this evening on behalf of all those imprisoned, here and abroad. Either imprisoned in body or imprisoned in mind, there are many who can't read these words or put up a fight against cannabis prejudice. Think not just of those jailed on orders of the state - but also of the young adults struggling to find jobs in this economy who must still live at home with unaccepting parents. Think of the millions held hostage by the piss-catching industry. Think of the millions ordered into treatment, stuck at a life-altering and possibly unnecessary residential rehab.Think of those who are no longer with us as friends and family. We're the freest of the American Global Slaves and have the true power of cannabis insight that enables one to see through the walls of deceit and corruption and how to live aound them, over them and how to bring them down.Enjoy one while you can! And give thanks. Do it for those who can't.Blessings on all you who inhale!

Cheers to FoM
FoM it's your work that enables us to see the ridiculousness. Especially when we can compare the crap side-to-side. This whole propaganda crap would be a damned funny movie if the future of the world wasn't being arrested away. Kinda kills the laughter...

95% Baloney Sandwiches
"But U.S. drug czar John Walters said an estimated 95% of the high-grade pot, from provinces like British Columbia, is already making its way into his country."Wow. For those of you that have been following this story, notice how incredibly fast the distortions arrive. It was widely reported that a Canadian police source (unnamed RCMP) told the US Drug Boob the 95% statistic. So it goes from one little invisible unknown Canadian cop to the head US Garbage-talker and suddenly it's printed in the paper as if the US has done a commissioned study. Now we have the 95% being touted as something the Drug Boob knows as a fact, and gosh, the US can't be wrong. They're omnipotent, right?AS IF THEY WOULD REALLY KNOW ANYWAY.Picture the RCMP cops watching every single bud being grown in the entire country of Canada and tracking what happens to it - I THINK NOT. And if in reality even 50% of BC bud was homegrown AND homesmoked, how would the cops even know?P.S. Be careful about the hat-eating, the cops are watching and they might outlaw hats if they think we're ingesting them and they don't know why...

I'll Eat My Hat
If we don't win! I don't wear a hat though. I know it's hard to have any faith that we can change the way things are but every bad law that has been changed takes time and determination. One thing is we can't lose hope. We all know that Cannabis shouldn't be illegal. We all know it is good medicine. More and more people are seeing that Cannabis isn't a demon drug but a medicinal plant. During this holiday season I will reflect on how far we have come. The Internet has been the tool we needed and now we have it and we can't get weary or quit now.

Dude! I'm gonna hold you to that. Now, would you eat your hat cold, or slightly warmed in the microwave? 8^)I agree with you, though, that the Feds are stalling. I think they are trying to force the hand of the Supreme Court so that once the laws have been struck down, they will be able to say to the US: "Well, what can we do? The highest court in the land has made the law invalid. We can't go about it like we did with abortion, and simply have no law, as even you (the US) would not want there to be total anarchy with regards to marijuana. So here's what we'll do: We'll institute a system by which we regulate and ensure that we maintain control of everything marijuana related (i.e. produce, sell, and tax the crap out of it), and we will incorporate measures that will minimize the flow of marijuana to your country. You won't have to try to stop it from coming in. We will do everything to ensure that it cannot make it out." Sneaky bastards. That's my call.Love and Peace,Doobinie

Don't hold your breath...
...unless your favorite color is blue. I'll eat my hat if Canada proposes ANY change in the new year. Cauchon's statement was meant to de-rail the Supreme Court case, nothing more, and it worked like a charm.
