Marijuana Question Draws Big Contributions

Both supporters and opponents of the ballot initiative to legalize small amounts of marijuana drew large contributions, according to campaign spending reports filed this week. The supporters, calling themselves Nevadans for Responsible Law Enforcement, raised more than $1.8 million to buy advertisements and TV commercials in the effort. All but $1,000 of the total, however, came from just one source: the Marijuana Policy Project in Washington, D.C.
And the movement seeking to legalize use and possession of three ounces of pot or less has spent all but $148,000.There are two organized groups seeking to convince voters legalizing pot is a bad idea, Nevadans Against Legalizing Marijuana and The Committee to Keep Nevada Respectable.Nevadans Against Legalizing Marijuana raised just $6,325 and spent all but $100.But The Committee to Keep Nevada Respectable raised $143,700 as of mid-October, the bulk of it from three casino corporations. The biggest contributor was the Venetian Casino Resort which gave the group two checks totaling $71,000.Boyd Gaming and Park Place Entertainment each contributed $25,000.The committee has spent $128,265 in its battle to keep marijuana on the list of illegal drugs in Nevada.Source: Nevada Appeal (NV)Author: Geoff Dornan, Appeal Capitol Bureau Published: November 2, 2002Copyright: 2002 Nevada AppealContact: appeal tahoe.comWebsite: http://www.nevadaappeal.com/Related Articles & Web Sites:NRLEhttp://www.nrle.org/Marijuana Policy Projecthttp://www.mpp.org/Question 9 Opponents Feel Shortchanged http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread14635.shtmlLocal View: Reefer Madness Strikes Againhttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread14624.shtmlNevada Voters Face Marijuana Initiative http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread14605.shtml

afterburner & AlvinCool
I had to uninstall my real video. It was buggy. Someday I will try downloading the player again but it was to scary for me to keep it. I know I'm missing good programs. AlvinCool, Thank you. I want to make sure everyone knows as soon as possible on election night. What I do on election day is rest during the afternoon if I can so I can stay up real late. It will be late if the polls are that close on Question 9.

Did anyone see the interview of Libby Davies, M.P.
on Pot-TV. She's a friend with hands-on experience in East Vancouver. Check her out. It's still an active link.

AlvinCool
I don't know of any web sites but I'll look over the weekend. Most newspapers should have a special election page. I will post articles no matter how late it gets until we know how everything goes. Question 9 is so close it might be late that night until we know for sure.

Results???
On election night there will be constant updates on the results of the election for Congressmen, Senators and Governors. However is there going to be any ongoing coverage of the ballot issues concerning marijuana for those out of the states that are voting on the issues?Anyone know of any websites for those purposes?

Just a Note
I've looked for more news but so far I haven't found any. It's the calm before the storm. I'll keep looking but I also think I'm going to rest up a little for this coming week. Have a nice weekend everyone.
