President George W. Bush's appointed drug czar John Walters will spread his message about the dangers of marijuana use and the threats posed by legalizing the drug, when he makes a stop in Tucson Wednesday. The director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy will make an appearance at Vida Serena, 2835 N. Stone Ave.
He will stress the health and social consequences of marijuana use and oppose Proposition 203, a drug-policy initiative that would decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana. Gubernatorial candidates Matt Salmon and Janet Napolitano may be at the event, said Walter's spokeswoman Jennifer de Vallance. "He doesn't feel marijuana is medicine," she said. "Part of the problem with marijuana is, people are getting mixed messages." Marijuana is responsible for 60 percent of all drug dependency, she said. Pop culture presents the drug as harmless but it actually reduces the ability to concentrate and retain information, de Vallance said. Complacency is not Walters' bag
Ignorance is. What can one do when ignorance abounds?Even if I were a college gradiate with a drum major and a coal miner, there would still be room for an 'open mind'.

Watching John Walters
Watching John Walters spread his "message" while trying to stop marijuana law reform is like watching a man trying to stop a locomotive with a pair of tweezers.-TM

Freedom of Speech!
"He doesn't feel marijuana is medicine," she said. "Part of the problem with marijuana is, people are getting mixed messages." This means that some truth is getting out.

Truth vs. Lies
"He doesn't feel marijuana is medicine," she said. "Part of the problem with marijuana is, people are getting mixed messages." Is Walters a doctor? Has Walters even tried cannabis? Not to my knowledge. Mixed messages? Yes, lies from the prohibitionists & truth from the cannabis law reformers. The truth shines brighter every day. The lies cannot & will not stand for much longer. I hope they send Walters to spew these lies in every state. He has as much credibility as the shrub & is himself an argument for legalization. The demonization of this miraculous plant is a crime against the earth & all of it's inhabitants. Well, antis, it's time to pay the piper. All of your lies cannot change the truth.Cannabis Hemp:The Invisible Prohibition Revealed -

D.E.A.th Czar Wally More Arbitrary and Capricious!
Pop culture presents the drug as harmless but it actually reduces the ability to concentrate and retain information, de Vallance said. How's prison and forfeiture and loss of work, school, assistance and the violence of the black market forced by prohibition on the ability to concentrate and retain information? Again the lies fall apart against the reality of millions using, working and living happy lives with cannabis. Education preventing most of the side effects of toking. Just say know! As they say Mean People Suck! What is meaner than a rabid profittering thugczar for the religious right? No victim no crime no justice no peace no Liberty with D.E.A.th! DdC"The dogmatic heartlessness of the war on drugs was on flaming display Monday in Flagler and Volusia counties as national drug 'czar' John Walters brought a message high on zero tolerance and dubious facts to a high school and a drug treatment center. Walters' sophomoric claims and punishing solutions illustrate exactly why a record 74 percent of Americans believe the war on drugs is a failure and why claims like Walters' cannot be trusted: They are irresponsibly blind to reality." It's sacramental use predates written history, although it's traditional use still continues within some African tribes, certain Hindu sects, Moslem fakirs, Sufis and Rastafarian..'Incense' used by Babylonians was made from the entheogenic ( 'God-manifesting' ) herb into 'Temple Balls' and were used during religious contemplation by being placed on ornate censers by the devotees in the temples.."The horrors experienced by many young inmates, particularly those who are convicted of nonviolent offenses, border on the unimaginable. Rescheduling prohibition: a UN mandate
A 1997 discussion paper by the New Zealand Drug Policy Forum Trust went even further. It declared that a policy of “partial prohibition” – defined as “permit[ing] adults to possess up to a defined amount of cannabis and cultivate up to a certain number of plants” – would appear to be in compliance with international conventions. While the researchers did acknowledge that a policy regulating and legalizing marijuana commerce is likely prohibited by provisions of the 1961 treaty, they added that governments wishing to enact such a system may “simultaneously
‘denounce’ the Single Convention, as permitted under article 46, while re-ratifying with reservations concerning cannabis in accordance with Article
49,” which allows signatories the “right to permit temporarily in any one of its territories … the use of cannabis, cannabis resin, extracts and tinctures
of cannabis for non-medical purposes” under limited circumstances.Prohibition and U.N. treaties,

Cannabis Rescheduling
What is a Rescheduling Petition? The regulatory process that determines the medical availability of cannabis (marijuana) is known as scheduling. A rescheduling petition is a document that summarizes the scientific data supporting changes in the scheduling of a controlled substance. Marijuana is regulated by the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) but unavailable for medical use in the United States because it is a Schedule I substance. The federal government insists that cannabis has a high potential for abuse, is unsafe for use under medical supervision and has no accepted medical use in the United States. The Coalition for Rescheduling Cannabis challenges this legal prohibition on medical availability of cannabis by way of a rescheduling petition. We argue that all three of the government’s claims are incorrect and that each is contradicted by scientific research and medical convention. We petition the government to provide regulated access to medical cannabis by invoking the scheduling provisions of the CSA. The purpose of this rescheduling petition is to have the federal government acknowledge that cannabis does not have a high potential for abuse, has a relatively low dependence liability, is safe for use under medical supervision, and has an accepted medical use in the United States. In our petition we offer the latest scientific evidence to support these findings. Our petition asks the Drug Enforcement Administration to remove marijuana from schedule I and consider its rescheduling into schedule III, IV, of V. Website: http://www.drugscience.org
