County supervisors yesterday jumped into the debate on medical marijuana, voting to oppose a city of San Diego program to give marijuana ID cards to the sick. The Board of Supervisors voted to send a letter to Mayor Dick Murphy and the San Diego City Council expressing opposition to a proposed medical marijuana program that would give identification cards to registered medical marijuana patients.
The vote is purely symbolic as the county has no jurisdiction over city programs. But the item still attracted 23 speakers to an emotional meeting that included name-calling and audience outbursts that prompted warnings from a sheriff's deputy. Supervisor Bill Horn proposed sending the letter to the city, saying he believes many county residents oppose the program and want the county to get involved. "I think this is bad public policy, and I think we ought to go on record with that," Horn said. Members of substance abuse organizations and parents offered various criticisms of the program, including their belief that marijuana has not been proven to help people and that the proposed guidelines are flawed. They also said that the county already has a large problem with youths abusing drugs and that a program that allows pot to be used by people, even if they have a prescription, will worsen the problem. "Our kids are watching," said Fred Becker, a veteran educator. "Whatever we do and say as adults directly affects the actions of kids." Supporters of medical marijuana included some members of a city task force that has been working on the program and some people who said they use marijuana to ease their medical problems. Ann Durrett said she takes marijuana to ease neck and back pain. "I don't hurt anymore," she said. Steve McWilliams, a prominent medical marijuana activist who recently had his marijuana crop raided by federal officers, chided the supervisors for only now getting involved in the issue. After more than an hour of discussion, supervisors voted on two motions. Ron Roberts said there may be valid, medical reasons for prescribing marijuana and proposed that the board wait until the conclusion of medical studies on the issue and until there is a resolution in the legal conflict between state and federal marijuana laws. That motion failed 2-3, with Roberts and Greg Cox voting for it. The board then voted to send a letter to the city in opposition to the program. That motion passed 4-1, with Roberts voting no. Supervisor Pam Slater said the county's vote would have "zero effect" on what the City Council does. Through a spokeswoman, Mayor Murphy said he could not comment on the county's vote because he had not seen the letter. Note: Board has no say, but members say it anyway.Complete Title: Supervisors Oppose City's Plan to OK Marijuana for Sick Source: San Diego Union Tribune (CA)Author: Luis Monteagudo Jr., Union-Tribune Staff Writer Published: October 2, 2002 Copyright: 2002 Union-Tribune Publishing Co.Contact: letters uniontrib.comWebsite: http://www.uniontrib.com/Related Articles:The Proposition 215 Dilemmahttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread14336.shtmlSupervisors Vote To Oppose Med. I believe and I think
""Supervisor Bill Horn proposed sending the letter to the city, saying he believes many county residents oppose the program and want the county to get involved.
"I think this is bad public policy, and I think we ought to go on record with that," Horn said.""This is what he thinks and believes. We should not be surprised if many other people think and believe like this only because that is the way he thinks and believes.Well Well now. I believe and I think, We The People, should spend more time thinking for ourselves, instead of career minded, government retirement thinking, status quo aristo/bureaucrats trying to think for everybody else. It's time to remind the elected & non-elected officials who they are really supposed to be representing and hold them accountable for their actions and inaction. Back to the basics.Food for thought. What do you think you believe?VOTE VOTE VOTE

Fascist Support Then and Now by the Union Tribune

http://www.spiritone.com/~gdy52150/usnazi.gif There is no better proof of the Nazi support for the ruling elite than looking at who supported Hitler in the 1930s in America. Granted many lower class people were involved in the pro-Hitler movement just as in Germany. But like Germany, it was the rich industrialists that funded these groups. Hearst ordered his newspapers to print pro Nazi articles in fact he had them print the Nazi propaganda directly from Gobbels. Irenee du Pont funded several pro-fascist groups. Henry Ford was well known for his praise of Hitler and funded many pro-Nazis in the 30s. Andrew Mellon and John D. Rockefeller were supporters of Hitler as well. No one is foolish enough to argue that these men were not part of the ruling elite or rich industrialist in America at the time. In fact support for Hitler among the rich industrialists was rampant, the details of this support will follow in later chapters. The continued propagation of such nonsense by the present right wing is nothing short of propaganda. It fits closely with the Nazis use of propaganda and the symbolism proposed by Gingrich and his negative words nor will it change the history of the right wing support of the Nazis. Likewise, through the use of examples, it was shown that the present right wing in America uses the same tactics that the Nazis used effectively. The remainder of the book will look at how creeping fascism has made use of the traits listed in this chapter until we now are a society in which corporations have more rights than individuals. so. This move made Aurora "The City of Lights," costing Copley's company $6,000 a year. Copley eventually was able to buy out the other gas and electric companies in the city. He saw gas being more useful for cooking than lighting and pushed the sale of gas stoves, offering buyers easy payment terms. Italian fascism and German Nazism had their admirers within the U.S. business community and the corporate owned press. Bankers, publishers, and industrialists, including the likes of Henry Ford, traveled to Rome and Berlin to pay homage, receive medals, and strike profitable deals. Many did their utmost to advance the Nazi war effort, sharing military industrial secrets and engaging in secret transactions with the Nazi government, even after the United States entered the war. During the 1920s and early 1930s, major publications like Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Christian Science Monitor hailed Mussolini as the man who rescued Italy from anarchy and radicalism. "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country... Corporations have bee enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."

Awareness
Now what words have I been repeating lately. Do I say ignorant and brainwashed a lot, especially as a source for recruits to the Free Cannabis forces? Now, maybe I have not said it, but the thing they lack is awareness of a certain type. Maybe an individually taylored awareness that comes from a friend over a period of several years. But people will be won over to reform of many things with awareness.Say today I took a car for a friend to have a windshield changed. Well, everyone seeing the years of my existance, can easily read the face that I have earned and refinement of my ways especially when they give me BS moments. The chance came when I returned right before 5PM because the rear-view mirror's brackett fell off from faulty glue from the wholesaler's prehung bracket. My understanding the working man's desire to exit at first opportunity conveyed my appreciation of squeezing me in. So he says as he gets ready to reapply , "No, I will be here until 7." We wind through some conversation and I comment about he is one of the few people able to get overtime and he tells me about his wife looking several months for a job with no success and this is in the big city of Charlotte. Well, I got dinner last night for my errand running and the story on the front page of the Statesville paper in the boxes out front was about them losing 300 jobs in an automotive parts plant in Mooresville (25 miles from Charlotte square)to a new plant in Mexico. Now my remarks to my fellow working class guy is, "Well, I usually don't buy newspapers because they are just a media for the propaganda of the huge corporations, but I did buy a paper yesterday because the headlines were about 300 people losing their jobs in Mooresville."I could even tell the suprize of me saying it to him about the media. But what happens the next time someone aware of the controlled media says something similar? How can he not think, "That is the second guy that said that to me." Well, if he ask me for an explanation I think I can handle it.But a lot of what Cannabisnews is about particular awareness to anything cannabis. Many words are here and this can save many people a lot of time or more importantly furnish them with the exact words for saying something. Copy and paste will do a lot for the cause, if you spread the words of reform. I would say that it took me a year to learn the importance and ease with which bookmarks can be made. I just added one described as "Dr. Russo" under "MMJ." I then added the article about his Q&A that appeared here today. Here it is: http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread14326.shtmlBut nobody has talked about the ease with which bookmarks can be made or the importance in the time we have before the election. All I can say is that I came to a new reality with bookmarks just in the last 3 months. Once you get your filing system worked out it is a joy to have. If you take the time now to study your browser, it will save you a lot of time and effort. You will not lose important links and you will be able to spread the reform message more efficiently using our greatest tool, the Internet. Internet is always capitalized by the way and so is World Wide Web.For example, Yellowtimes.org has had some great article from time to time and had I been organized as the articles came up, it would have saved me a lot of time looking them up. Now one thing about Yellowtimes is that you could run copies of the articles you like and put in a little binder and leave it at the barbershop or wherever possible with their blessing. Just read the bottom of these four articles I will post. The best article I have ever read on cannabis is this one: http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=467&mode=thread&order=0 I have four more links I will not describe except to say one should be about the growth hormones added to milk that is poisoning us and reducing a cows life by 75%.http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=703&mode=thread&order=0http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=613&mode=thread&order=0http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=621&mode=thread&order=0http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=266&mode=thread&order=0I have learned the value of a temporary folder. If you are in a hurry just throw them in until you can sort them out, but don't let your links get away. They can easily be deleted and not so easily hunted down again.I was just trying to say that our task will be to bring the unaware of the media control over to the pervasive views of the Internet. We need to share our awareness or hint at it the way I did with the windshield guy. It is the duty of a patriot to rid the government of corruption. Who are doing their patriotic duty in Congress? I wish I could think of one name or recite one occassion of one member just saying the word fascist or fascism one time. If I had seen mention of it, I would have tracked it down and bookmarked it to share.Well, let's get those bookmarks organized, and spread our awareness as we do our patriotic duty to rid the government of corruption. Everyone is against government corruption, the just are not aware of it.I can borrow from the late EJ, in raising the awareness that in the last presidential election, both parties agreed to remove the issue of the WOSD off the table. You could point that out to the unaware and say they are doing the same thing in this election. They cannot raise the issue and they cannot say MJ is no better than dirt as medicine when 3 out of 4 Americans do not accept that as fact. If the issue comes up, they may ask if a three-fourth majority still matters to our better and smarter than anyone else candidates. The media and the 2party agreement will not raise the issue of corruption or the WOSD. WETHEPEOPLE have to do that ourselves. And since it has not been said, it should now be said in its own way before, I give this new arrangement its own paragraph.DAD- Don't Abuse DrugsDAD-D,1,2
