Medical pot raids help drug traffickers
Source: Sacramento Bee
Some wit once defined a fanatic as a person who redoubles his effort just as he loses sight of his objective. That wit must have been thinking of U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and Drug Enforcement Administrator Asa Hutchinson.Their objective is supposed to be chasing drug traffickers who sell dangerous drugs such as methamphetamines and heroin to children. Instead, they are raiding plots that supply medical marijuana to grandmothers with cancer under the terms of California's Proposition 215.
The state's growing anger over Ashcroft's fanaticism crystallized this month after DEA agents raided a medical marijuana cooperative in Santa Cruz that operates responsibly with the support of local officials and police. Santa Cruz city officials gathered the other day with doctors, lawyers and patients to openly distribute medical marijuana in defiance of federal officials. And they are right to be angry. As California Attorney General Bill Lockyer spelled out in a recent letter to Ashcroft and Hutchinson, the raids, conducted without consulting local and state authorities, are doubly outrageous. For one thing, they are unethical abuses of law enforcement power. Lockyer points out that the raids are being conducted without any expectation that the targets can or will be successfully prosecuted. There's not a jury anywhere in California that would convict someone operating a medical marijuana cooperative that state authorities have sanctioned under Proposition 215. Right On DanB
And entities like SBC become even more disturbing, when you go to their website, and realize that they are quite diversified...in fact,,they own and operate a huge credit/financial entities.,,,and then,, when you begin to consider the ramifications of a huge mega-monopoly corporate cartel, that basicly owns the phones, and several other mega-corporate cartels, that own huge portions of the airwaves, print media, and internet access...It all becomes more disturbing, when we factor in the egregious, and disgusting fiasco sham/scam to rush into a "war"..

...and when it is all owned,by huge corporations that are in collusion with the New Federal Empire,{NFE},then ,the entire nation will bo subject to ......

DANA and p4me
Indeed, SBC is the largest telephone company to provide local service in the United States at this time. Remember back when AT&T and all the baby bells were forced to split up? Well, now SBC has gobbled up all the baby bells, and we're in exactly the same place we were in at the beginning: one phone company with a virtual monopoly on local service and cell service (have you heard of Cingular? That's SBC too). And this does have something to do with the topic at hand. DANA and p4me are both correct in asserting that we are at the beginning of a war between the haves and the have nots. It began long ago by the "haves," and the "have nots" are finally catching onto it. This happens every half-century or so. Traditionally, wars don't begin until one side realizes the extent to which it is being exploited. In the case of the so-called "war on drugs," which is really a war on the poor and lower-middle classes, the "haves" have found a way to rally people who say they are Christians, but are more accurately called Puritan Fascists, to their cause of stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. In part because of policies put into place by the drug war, the average CEO now makes 480 times what the average worker makes. And what, pray tell, are these CEOs paid for? Why, their expertise in robbing the poor and giving to the rich, of course. When they get rich enough, they buy elections and pass laws against the lower socioeconomic strata. Can anybody say "asset forfeiture"?Yep, we're in the middle of a war that most are only now realizing has been going on for centuries (the wars on some drugs and on terrorism are only the latest incarnations). I have seen both sides of this war. I choose the side of truth.Dan B

For whatever it's worth,,I feel the same way as my old friend dddd felt;;your eloquent commentaries are informative, and superb!...Never stop!..........and,speaking of "Bells",,,out west here,we had Pac Bell,,but in the last year, all of a sudden, our phone bills started coming from SBC,,which I assume,is some corpo-monster thing that has Southern Bell at its origins.I got curious,so I went to the SBC website, and ,yes,,indeed..If you want to see a corporate behemoth of the future,,you need look no further than SBC...Their motto should be;;;"SBC,,The only game in town".

3:03 AM- still correcting mistakes
I called BellSouth by its old name of Southern Bell. It looks like I will spend the rest of my DSL days correcting the mistakes on this thread alone. FoM, I would say that I have read 95% of everyword here since I found the Recent Comment feature. I get the jest of things and I have all but run out of BS. Anyway, one of my favorite jokes is about the young bull and the old bull grazing on the top of a hill in their private pasture. So the young bull being a creature of nature looks down at the pasture full of cows on the other side of the barbed wire and says to the old bull "Let's run down there, jump the fence, and screw (really f) one of them cows." The old bull slowly raises his head and says " Let's walk down and get some water, walk up and push the gate open and f them all."Well, you know I am an old bull so you can figure I want to get all the prohibitionist I can. For years when people ask what I do I have said I am writing a book. It always drew the same response before I quit raising the idea- What is it about. My point being that if you want a good book it is painted on the canvas of our times. I have come to a new reality over the last year or so and have decided on the canvas. It is no secret of my perspective of our current times and now that I feel confident in the background, I think I can paint the rest of the story. I quit the forum where I was called a liberal, as if that is bad, and told to go to another country, as if I wouldn't go to Canada if they would have me. I got called a dumbass a lot but I think it showed their stupidity as I was there long enough for people to prove differently. The internet has picked up on the themes of the powerful manipulating government and media and the war of the haves and the havenots is on for real. There may have been times some thought we were beating a dead horse. That was a false reality as the horse is running fine and all bets are changing.I am not going anywhere, I just want to read a few books while I starve the economy before the election. I mean I cannot say starve the economy and not do it. Besides I am out to screw them all, those lousy prohibitionist. I did like one thing I presented today and will elaborate in case it slipped by. You know have the Russians would always say Comrade and the Australians say mate and the Jamaicans say mon or man? Remember me posting something that said many contracts with the government forbade the use of the word prohibitionist because it sounds so bad to their cause. I am sure I have typed prohibitionist more than anyone else here. I mean I do read almost every word and I do know that I do not say anti and do type out the p-word. Anyway I like the idea of saying Prohibitionist Smith or Prohibitionist Jones instead of Governor Smith or Congressman Jones. It labels them with a word that they don't like that lets everyone know the words that are going to be quoted. Now you may wonder why I say these things this late at night. Well, I may die in my sleep and it would have gone unsaid and it needed to be said.If you remember me talking about Virgil's words in the Art of Poetry, he said that in writing you should say at once what needs to be said at once. So that is why what is before was said and now you can figure why I say my closing statement of the night.I call crap.1,2 1,2 1,2

I just don't want to see you go. I understand though even though I don't understand about your book or song but it makes me sad to think you will not be around. I appreciate all you have done and it won't be forgotten. I wish you the best with all you do. You deserve the best.

FoM, it did it itself
You know that person called me an idealist and not a perfectionist. FoM, I am going to use the computers at the library for a while and they have an internet coffeeshop in town now. I am going to go back to dial-up as soon as possible. I have seen about all the videos I worth watching. Southern Bell let me have DSL for $21.95 for two months and my two months end 9/30. I have to concentrate on my book and I have a song which could be called Schedule One Lie. It does not embarass me to repeat everything my bumperstickers over again and surely will. Besides people will see me in a different light with an edit feature. To repeat 1,2 1,2 1,2

I remember someone called me a perfectionist
I remember someone commented about me being a perfectionist when I was saying starve the economy and have a perfect meal. Sure. Anyway have copied my comment to Word and I am going to correct the list of 5 lakes above Lake Norman to include Lake Rhodhiss as soon as I look up how to spell it. I would not want the prohibitionist to blame yet another mistake on marijuana when things like that are caused by me not be a perfectionist and not sweating the details.I want comment1 to appear correctly as I am at the end of my loop on anything to say. I am about to drop my internet service before the election and starve the economy as my contribution to the cause. I mean what else can I say?1,2

Can you blame the Cowards? People on Meth..
from my own limited experience are way more "jumpy" and if prone to violence more likely to fight back..than pot smokers are.

I noticed on marijuana.com, the system there inserts spacing automatically. You also might try using the pre command, which should at least allow for carriage returns.

The rest of the story
The last paragraph snipped one line and there are two more paragraphs that are copied below: The raids are punishment being meted out without conviction or trial. Even more important, every hour a federal agent spends chasing medical marijuana is an hour not available to California's more serious drug problems. Medical marijuana, Lockyer correctly noted, "represents little danger to the public and is certainly not a concern that would warrant diverting scarce federal resources away from the fight against domestic methamphetamine production, heroin distribution or international terrorism." Every time Ashcroft and the DEA go after medical marijuana users, life gets a little easier on traffickers in methamphetamines and heroin. That's something even a fanatic should be able to understand. ----------------------------------- I did a Google search for the phrase "Schedule One Lie" and got four pages of results. All the results came to Cannabisnews.com and all of the one's I checked were my comments. I am proud to be an Extremist, but this information could be damaging to my leadership position within the Moderate Extremist. It seems that I am the only one in the whole wide world that thinks that the classification of MJ as a Schedule One Controlled Substance has nothing to do with science or medicine and is a political position that actually defies logic, common sense, human history, science, reason, and debate, much less medicine. I have a background in real estate, and a question someone once asked me concerned if a certain 7 acre body of water was a lake or a pond. Well, my feeling is that technically a pond is a body of water that dams a creek and that a lake is a body of water that dams a river. But of course an owner wants to own a lake and not a pond and common usage certainly would allow a person to call it a lake if they wanted even though I say it is rightly called a pond. But one thing about lakes is that they are generally so big as to get a name like Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and so on. I live about two miles from Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. It is the middle lake of either 9 or 11 Lakes that dam the Catawba River. Above it is Lake Lookout, Lake Hickory, Lake James, and Lake Lure. If that is the only 4 above it then there are 9 lakes and they all have names. The above pond had no name. I thought it only fitting that such a huge lie supported and advanced by the federal government was so huge it deserved its own name. I remember using the term for the first time, saying that any motivational speaker would tell you that to solve a problem you have to identify the problem. My identification of the problem of the controversy over medical marijuana was that the government knowingly and corruptingly supported the misclassification of marijuana as a schedule one substance because any other classification would be a breach in the stone wall that the fascist and prohibitionist have worked on for 65 years. Here are the four pages of a Google search for "Schedule One Lie" with the possibility that this page turns it into 5 pages. The lake that I see is no mirage I tell you and it is damming a river of vicious lies and malicious laws and deserves to be named. I do not know what happenned to the rebellion of youth or the leadership of America, but there is a huge Lake that has stopped the dangerous currents of the River of Lies for 65 years. Actually there are as many lakes on this river as on the Catawba, but the biggest dam holds back Lake Schedule One Lie. It is time to teach your children to swim. 1,2
