Laws and judges that are opposed by the majority of Americans can not stand up to the the withering press scrutiny and the jury nullification that such civil disobedience brings on. Plus the judge knows that if he gives a harsh sentence his political hopes and advancement hopes are degraded. We are "degrading" the enemies' forces. We have finally reached the early 1960's stage of civil rights protests where we also began to get media-covered civil disobedience by popular people. The medical cannabis wars are over soon if this continues. If the judge had given Harrelson a contempt citation, even more media coverage would have ensued. Spread this article far and wide, especially to celebrities, politicians, and other prominent people. A judge would have given a contempt citation earlier to the average person, in my opinion. I have long said that public opinion rules in the end. Even in most dictatorships. They just crumble from the constant erosion from lots of people doing lots of little things. Sand in the machine just wears it out. Even the mighty Soviet Union fell from public opinion turning against it. Every big and little opening like glasnost, perestroika, fax machines, samizdats, etc.. accumulated to the point that the doddering machine and the paradigm changed.
