County supervisors unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday condemning the federal government’s raid of the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana garden last week. The Santa Cruz City Council passed a similar measure. Supervisor Mardi Wormhoudt, who sponsored the county resolution, said she was "appalled" by the raid. "This type of federal action seems to me completely unwarranted," she said.
"Most of us know the Wo/Men’s Alliance to be exemplary in its practice."Wormhoudt said the raid is forcing WAMM members to buy marijuana on the open market, which is both risky and costly. And, ironically, the raid is supporting international drug cartels that sell marijuana and other dangerous drugs, she said.WAMM director Valerie Corral and her husband, Michael, spoke of how they were thrown face-down on the floor with guns pointed at their heads on Thursday. "This is a tragedy on so many levels, it is beyond me to comprehend," Michael Corral said. "In the last few months we have buried five of our friends, and we will probably bury more because of this."Alliance member Suzanne Pfeil, who suffers post-polio syndrome and uses a wheelchair, also spoke Tuesday. Pfeil said she is in constant pain without marijuana, one of the few drugs her body can tolerate."The guns of the nation are now pointed at the sick, the disabled and the dying," she said. "I have a hard time believing I am the enemy." oh yes Kappy
And don't forget the San Fransisco referendum in November on municipal cultivation!Personally, I'd like to see a little less "condemning" and a little more ACTION! Like how about using city and county LEO to PROTECT the citizens? It does say "protect and serve" on the sides of the cars, right? Clearly the DEA doesn't give a hoot about "condemnation" from anyone. Or how about an injunction from a state judge prohibiting DEA interference? Wouldn't the DEA have to respect that?

California is against federal terrorism
Somebody better start talking or their silence is going to be a bad mark on their public career when the masses find out the truth and marijuana is once again legal. The following is from x-ile on the DE messageboards:the DE trial - day 3Sorry, folks, but not much to report again today. Roo was seriously ill when he arrived at court this morning so Judge Fish agreed to delaying the start of the prosecution case for a day. Roo and the jury were sent home before 12. The rest of us returned in the afternoon to hear Judge Fish's decisions on the defence team's legal applications. Unfortunately, these were turned down, despite the prosecution admitting a breach of procedure in the way the have collected and presented some of the evidence. So, if all DEfendents etc are well, tomorrow will finally see the start of the trial proper. Almost 12 months to the day from the first DE-related arrest, Colin, Steve, Phil, Roo and Robin will be able to start clearing there names from the police and prosecution allegation that they are commercial drug dealers.[One final word from Judge Fish - he has pointed out that there are limited seats in the public gallery and asked Colin's supporters not to cause any disturbance in the court - room or building. He pointed out that he could clear the public from the courtroom - though he said he wasn't threatening to!]Billy Barker

I agree Kap
Well said. I think this voice is being heard more and more.Spefically, the most notable things is that a group of people operating under state law growing their own medicine WITHOUT the exchange of money is in direct competition to a market that funnels money to organized crime and terrorism. Any action against these people directly supports terrorism! So, now it can be said that not only is the DEA performing its own form of domestic terrorism on law abiding sick Californians, it is also directly supporting international terrorism through its actions. The world needs to hear about this hypocracy. Today is suppose to be Patriot day. Dictionary.com defines a patriot as "One who loves, supports, and defends one's country." Freedom from tyrrany is what founded this country, and was and still is at the heart of American Patriotism. As Freedom Fighters, we owe it to America to expose the systematic assault on those Law Enforcement are sworn to protect, and the direct support these efforts give to Organized Violence!THC

This is IT
This is what I've been waiting for. This is the point it begins to turn. This is where it starts to unravel for the antis:Wormhoudt said the raid is forcing WAMM members to buy marijuana on the open market, which is both risky and costly. And, ironically, the raid is supporting international drug cartels that sell marijuana and other dangerous drugs, she said. (Emphasis mine -k.)A public official has said this. No matter it's a county official. A public official has, for the first time in memory, crossed the breach of logic raised by the antis in defiance of common sense, and pointed to the obvious. The DrugWar creates, sustains and nourishes the cartels. In time, more will speak out. More public officials will make the statement. No matter how the antis try to spin it, the all-so-obvious-but-never-dared-be-uttered truth has now been spoken and will be repeated by people in positions of (albeit, limited) power and responsibility. The antis are in some real trouble now. For when the rest of the public hears this, as they will, the antis will have to find some new lies to counter this truth...and they've run out of lies long ago, they just recycle old ones...which are no longer being swallowed as uncritically as they have been in the past. This day is a milestone.
