The 2002 cannabis crop is almost ready to be harvested in regions of Canada not ravaged by drought, floods or police raids. It's hidden among trees or ripening amid clumps of raspberry bushes, which allegedly give off a similar infrared signature to fool the drug detection scanners in search-and-seize police helicopters. The downside of using raspberries for cannabis cover, of course, is that it prevents the landowner from offering a U-pick service to the public.
But the payoff from a successful marijuana harvest can be lucrative enough to let the berry crop drop and rot in the field. Anthony (not his real name, naturally) grows his marijuana under the trees of his central Ontario property. He plants in the spring using a full bag of tri-mix soil per plant, carefully waters them every other day and prunes them regularly. He periodically gives them a blast of pepper spray to keep the bugs away and ensure, ironically, his product is chemical-free, at least on the outside. When we were teens in the early '70s, he was selling one-ounce bags for $40 and had a reputation for dealing some very high-flying stuff. Now he's a medical practitioner, of sorts, offering $230 ounces of grass to a waiting list of cancer and AIDS victims in east-side Toronto. He grows potent product -- "compared to what we had as a kid, this will knock you on your ass and there's even better product out there," he marvels, that can send a sick person's suffering up in smoke in three deep drags. "I've had customers whose body was in full tremors, quaking uncontrollably with back spasms," Anthony says. "I give them half a joint and the tremors abate and even the back spasms ease. It's amazing to watch."While Anthony's no angel, having smoked more recreational dope than any pothead can possibly remember, he had visions of growing the stuff legally for sick people one day. But that day's delayed thanks to pot-pooper Health Minister Anne McLellan's musings this week. McLellan has decided, subject to a sudden damage control flip-flop, that legal medicinal marijuana is reefer madness and that former health minister Allan Rock was on a bad trip when he planted a government crop at the bottom of a Flin Flon mineshaft last year for distribution to the suffering.First, she determined his $6-million pot planting blossomed into faulty flora and ordered the crop destroyed. Now the whole idea of providing more chronically or terminally ill Canadians with relief via marijuana has been put on hold by McLellan until there has been a Supreme Court ruling or what will undoubtedly become a protracted clinical trial, which may or may not get started any time soon. Farewell!
Well, this is my last post before venturing off, leaving the continent, leaving familiarity. I doubt I won't be able to find access to a computer, it's not as if I'm going to the third world. Wouldn't it just be something if we are sitting in a coffee shop smoking a joint in November, B?Anyway, peace all. I hope things don't get too civil in my absence. lol.I really hope I like England.

There's a little price break
Some places give two prices with the higher giving the best price per gram. It's not that much cheaper than any place else to buy cannabis in Amsterdam. It's well worth the money just to experience freedom.Keep in touch and we'll talk about it some more.

huh
That's about what it costs here, $10 Canadian for a gram. Does it go down if you buy in bulk or is it straight up 6 per? I would be very intrested going to Amsterdam. That really would be intresting to see you there, B Green. It is in fact a workable possibility!

I was going to give some exact prices
but I can't find the piece of paper I wrote it on.Cannabis runs about 6 Euros per gram for the good stuff, which right now is almost exactly $6 US. Hashish can be expensive for the really good bubble hash, but man it's good.

Expensive? Not if you prepare
We did some research and ate well and did a bunch on a very limited budget. OK, my money was going for the cannabis and hashish, so my budget wasn't that limited. :-)Check out this book and website:Get Lost! The Cool Guide To Amsterdam by Joe Paulker

hmm...
I was actually thinking of going to A-dam. My sister tells me that a flight from England to Italy only costs about twenty pounds (about forty $). That would be cool to hook up at a coffee shop or something. Isn't Amsterdam itself very expensive?

There are a plethora of internet cafes in Europe
EasyEverything filters out anything having to do with cannabis, but there are many other places that offer unrestricted access.Check in with us from time to time, and for goodness sakes GO TO AMSTERDAM! I know there are cheap fares to the Netherlands, so you've got to go. I'm going back in November, so maybe we could meet or something. No pressure, just a thought.Be safe.

I'm watching the most fantastic video
It's called "Grass" and it's on Pot-TV. The audio is out of sync with the video, but the information is outstanding. Woody Harrelson narrates, and it shows the history of cannabis prohibition. What's the biggest eye opener for me is now I know where the lies originally came from. They still repeat all of the lies created throughout the past 80 years.I know that I knew a tremendous amount about this subject, but this video is putting all of the pieces together.

That barb had some sharpness to it, huh?All I am bringing are books, clothes and my cd wallet. The End of Work by Rifkin; 'Twixt Land and Sea by Conrad; The Road to Wigan Pier by Orwell; Cry, The Beloved Country by Patan; Memories, Dreams, Reflections by Jung; Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (I don't leave home without it); The Unautherized Version, Truth and Fiction in the Bible by Robin Lane Fox. That should be pretty heavy.I hope you know that "For the last time" was only mock exasperation

twelve
Twelve years is too long for any Prime Minister to be in office. On the Canadian TV network CanWest Global they showed a documentary about medical marijuana a few months ago. They showed a video of an MS patient who was tremoring so badly a woman had to light and hold his joint for him. After literally about three tokes he had virtually stopped shaking.

Beleaguered Canada Prime Minister to quit in 2004
By Randall Palmer-=cut=-
The problem for Martin -- at this stage the clear front-runner to succeed Chretien -- is that if a review is only held in February, 2004, it will give his rivals in cabinet plenty of time to organize their own leadership campaigns. Chretien's announcement could leave government policy in limbo for 18 months as contenders for the leadership ignore their ministerial portfolios and focus on trying to win power. The veteran prime minister's thoughts on the subject remain a secret for now. After making his announcement he walked away, saying: "No questions, no answers. Bye bye."

Maybe Not Soon Enough
Chretien is planning to slog through another year and a half, huh? It sounds as if most Canadians are sick of him. Maybe Rock would do better, at least on our issue.

Show me the video
"I've had customers whose body was in full tremors, quaking uncontrollably with back spasms," Anthony says. "I give them half a joint and the tremors abate and even the back spasms ease. It's amazing to watch."Doesn't anyone think that there is big gap in what the general public knows about these miracles of cannabis and the patients themselves know. Why isn't there a video of a before , during, and after of a person with chronic pain showing the world the difference it can make? If people believe that "You are healed stuff" the television ministries repeatedly show, how will they not be amazed at some real video of deprived people being restored by their miracle cannabis medicine.I think the three states that are having MMJ iniatives must be Florida, Ohio, and Michigan, with Michigan having a Cnews article claiming support at the 82% level.OK, now where is that Gallup poll on legalization? I am interested to see how many people voted in the poll.1,2
