Partnership Sends Mixed Message To America's Youth
Source: U.S. Newswire
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) goofed when it chose NASCAR driver Jimmy Spencer to carry its anti-drug message to America's youth, since both Spencer and NASCAR have lucrative deals pushing beer. That, according to the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), is the latest in a series of missteps by so-called "Drug Czar" John Walters, whose agency has come under fire for leaving alcohol off its anti-drug agenda.
"As beer promoters, Jimmy Spencer and NASCAR are the wrong messengers," said George Hacker, director of CSPI's Alcohol Policies Project. "They're no better than the Budweiser frogs as anti-drug spokesmen. It really shows that the drug czar has a blind spot when it comes to booze." A recent ONCDP brochure touting the office's outreach to the auto racing world actually pictured Spencer's race car emblazoned with the familiar "Bud" logo. Spencer's web site has photos of the driver wearing a Bud hat and posing behind cases of Busch beer. Only a couple of mouse clicks separate Spencer's shot-glass sales from his anti-drug links. Other drivers, like Rusty Wallace and Sterling Martin, plug Miller and Coors, respectively. NASCAR has a $7.5 million sponsorship deal with Busch beer. In a letter today to Walters, CSPI's Hacker wrote that ONDCP's anti-drug message is compromised by NASCAR's beer deals, which include omnipresent beer logos even on kid-friendly items like caps and toy cars. "When we tried to get alcohol included in ONDCP's ad campaign, this wasn't exactly what we had in mind," Hacker said. The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a nonprofit health-advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., that focuses on nutrition, food safety, and pro-health alcohol policies. CSPI is supported largely by the 800,000 U.S. and Canadian subscribers to its Nutrition Action Healthletter and by foundation grants. The war
It shows that this isn't a war a about good judgement. This is more hypocrisy brought to you by the spin masters.
Off topic; another war being prepared: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0805-05.htm
A good read about Bush arrogance: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0805-04.htm
The Bush administration sat on a Clinton-era plan to attack al-Qaida in Afghanistan for eight months because of political hostility to the outgoing president and competing priorities, it was reported yesterday.

Thank you. I received an email about John Walters and C-Span and looked on C-Span and just couldn't find the program. I went to the governments web site and still couldn't find it. If you find it please post it because this is important.

Last week on C-SPAN at a L.E.O drug convention, John Walters said that they're preparing a "Wall-To-Wall" anti-pot campaign for "this fall"... Get your sledge-hammers ready!!

ONDCP Brew-ha-ha
Don't forget, the ONDCP has awarded their contract yet again to Ogilvy and Mather - a firm which, in addition to allegations of overbilling the ONDCP in the past, also produces propaganda for for Miller Lite & XO Beer, Procrit, Remicade, and Coca Cola. A recent news clipping about this can be found at:

Does some one have time for some intern
research work?Compile:Info to see if stats indicate that 90% of murderers were free of cannabis while commiting murder. That will lead to proving that those who do not use cannabis are at a higher risk to society, while not using cannabis. This info will enable Us to rid Our streets of those at high risk of murder in Our society. Methods of a healthy community will include incarceration and treatment of those tested and found deficient of regulitory THC levels.

When We finaly control the most ignorant
in society today, and stop the practice of caging a human for using a plant,We're going to laugh at the scope of insanity that these barbaric freaks in control, exude.Taking tax money to give to swill, to cage.I'm sorry, but that just angered Me.Made Me think of lawyers, and that makes me want to generalize again, and this time about lawyers. Here is what is said in Urantia about lawyers and the issue of the beginning, coinciding with cannabis, perhaps...Woe upon all of you lawyers who have taken away the key of knowledge from the common people! You yourselves refuse to enter into the way of truth, and at the same time you would hinder all others who seek to enter therein. But you cannot thus shut up the doors of the kingdom of heaven; these we have opened to all who have the faith to enter, and these portals of mercy shall not be closed by the prejudice and arrogance of false teachers and untrue shepherds who are like whited sepulchres which, while outwardly they appear beautiful, are inwardly full of dead men's bones and all manner of spiritual uncleanness." The Life of Jesus -Paper 166.Seems Bush is a lawyer... along with all His other achievments.

Oh Ethan!
& John Tyler,That's of course, sponsored & FUELED by CANNABIS.If commercials were to drop frogs into beer they would be sued by animal rights activists, who fail to consider, humans caged for less. This is where the booze companies are going to start getting bit by their own wrath.I grew up there,,, and they used to say, if You shit in Your own back yard, pretty soon it is going to start to stink. The booze industry that has helped support caging humans for using a plant by labeling it drug, doesn't know it but they have a stinky yard getting stinkier.Prop the urine suckers up and You'd hardly tell their drunk in the promo picture.I hate to generalize, (even hate to hate it)but pattern indicates NASCAR = redneck.I know their not all rED, but...What a fresh perspective, of the prohibitionists mind.

NASCAR
It would be something if Cannabis Culture sponsored a race car. Red and white for Canada and green for the leaf on the hood. It would start some conversations. Bands and other sponsors could buy space on the quarter panels.

More Hypocrisy
This is simply more hypocrisy from the same people that jail housewives for using methedrine, and feed Dexedrine to pilots.
