Despite Oregon's new medical marijuana law, many doctors treating cancer and AIDS patients still fear they risk prosecution if they recommend something the federal government considers illegal. Still others are concerned that they might be doing their patients more harm than good with a drug that is smoked into the lungs.
In increasing numbers, doctors are turning instead to federally approved drugs such as Marinol, a synthetic version of THC, the key chemical component in marijuana. Even though the drug has been available for years, the manufacturers of the drug, Columbus, Ohio-based Roxane Laboratories, said Marinol use has risen since six states including Oregon approved the use of medical marijuana with a doctor's consent. The company says about 10,000 patients use the prescription drug nationwide. Click the above link to read the whole story!News article found by Cryote! Thanks Cryote!

Asthma patient question
I was hoping someone could tell me if marijuana can be prescribed for asthma patients, not to be smoked, but to be boiled and the water vapour inhaled, perhaps drinking some of the tea as well. Would this be an alternative to a patient who is allergic to Ventolin in usual asthma pumps, due to heart palpitations ?

i disagree
i really disagree on the docters opinion. i have epilepsy and i actually know that marjuana helps me and if the docters refuse or have problems with the cancer and aids patients what about the epilepsy patients??i would rather smoke legal then have to constantly be careful
