Cannabis Found in Tory HQ Garden

The plant was found growing in a secluded spot

Conservatives in Wales have been pleading their innocence after cannabis was found growing in the grounds of their Cardiff headquarters. The young plant was found growing in a flower bed at the premises in the Whitchurch area of the city. Party workers said they believed the Tory HQ gardens had been chosen for their secluded nature, and did not think the cannabis had been planted as a political prank.
I think it is just somebody seeing an opportunity to plant this stuff - I don't suppose for a minute that it is a Conservative member --Nick Bourne, Tory leader in the Welsh Assembly A party spokesman said: "We have not got a clue how it got there." "As it was quite close to the main road the suspicion must be someone thought it would be a very safe place to plant it." Embarrassing find The cannabis was discovered by a party worker who had formerly been a police officer. Staff destroyed the plant and informed the police of the find. Nick Bourne is blaming opportunists Nick Bourne, Conservative leader in the Welsh Assembly admitted there was "an amusing side" to the discovery but insisted it was a serious matter. Speaking on BBC Radio 4, he said: "When our gardeners at our headquarters in Cardiff identified these as suspicious plants and thought they might be cannabis our director ... called the police in immediately." "These plants apparently - and I didn't know until this morning that this story was true - were planted in a secluded part of the garden," he added. "The police have advised other people with large grounds in the area to check under all their trees and in their herbaceous borders to see if there are suspicious plants there. "I think it is just somebody seeing an opportunity to plant this stuff. Ann Widdecombe called for a crackdown "I don't suppose for a minute that it is a Conservative member." Cannabis has proved to be controversial for the Tories in recent years. In 2000, a proposal by the then shadow Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe for on-the-spot fines for cannabis use backfired. It prompted confessions from a string of senior Conservatives who admitted to experimenting with the drug in their youth. In July 2001, former deputy Conservative leader Peter Lilley called for the drug to be legalised, claiming the existing law was "unenforceable and indefensible". Asa bombed...
I think both opinions sucked. O'Reilly thinks everyone who can spell cannabis is an addict, and Asa thinks that if he can keep up the fight for 2 more years he'll land that really cool job at DynCorp supervising flights over the Gulf of Mexico. Now they wanna start the Homeland Security Dept. 170,000 employees. Holy Batfarts Batman. Theres less people in some States. Asa looked pretty downtrodden. Looked like depression setting in. He should see some one. Maybe get that chrome polished a bit.

The O'Reilly Factor
I just watched The O'Reilly Factor and O'Reilly is hard for me to handle most times but he told Asa Hutchinson how it is and Hutchinson didn't have much to say in response. He said we didn't remove the opium poppies from Afghanistan when we had the chance and that's playing politics with our money and that's wrong.

Not much too say
I would not say anything today except that I got to wondering about how to roll a tulip joint. I ran across a little bit of a find called "The joint rollers handbook" that tells you how to make all kinds of different artistic joints. Just click on what you like for instructions: http://legalize.icelord.net/handbook/map.php1

Heads Up on O'Reilly Factor - Asa Hutchinson
Hi Everyone, Nicholas sent this to me and I thought I should post it so no one misses it tonight that wants to see the program.Guests and Topics:
Tuesday, June 11, 2002
Tonight...The O'Reilly Factor is on....The Salt Lake City police are now hinting that missing 14 year-old Elizabeth Smart may have been abducted by someone who knows her. We'll have the latest on the developments in Utah.
Plus, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder says that the United States must accept limits on the evidence his country can supply in the Moussaoui case...because of our policy on the death penalty! We'll have a report.
Then, does Canada have American blood on its hands after September 11? Meet David Harris, the former chief of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, who says that Canada's lax immigration policies may be partly to blame for some of the terror that has found its way into the United States. We'll talk with Mr. Harris this evening.
Plus, will our war on drugs suffer because of the FBI reorganization? Will it hamper our efforts to wipe out drug crimes? We'll ask DEA Administrator Asa Hutchinson.
Also, an update on the charity situation since September 11. A stunning investigation by The Washington Post reveals that only 29 cents of every dollar donated to charitable groups has actually made it to the families since the terror attacks occurred! It's about the priest sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church. Bradley has talked with church leaders and victims of abuse and he'll tell us what he uncovered.

Awesome!
Isn't the Internet awesome? How fundamental a change has occured when a question about an obscure government document is answered three different ways with direct access to the document within 20 minutes!Such a thing has never been possible in the history of the world. No wonder those that depend on limiting access to information in order to maintain power are quaking in their boots!

Beat Me to it, FOM!
But here is another link to the report.I do recall that verbiage cited by JR, it seems included to provide cover for our representatives by giving them a pat non-response in line with prohibitionist ideology to hand out to constituents. The confusion probably resultsfrom the lack of context. The part that is missing is where they acknowledge that for patients currently in need, there is no alternative to whole, smoked Cannabis. The part you cite is their sop to the "no medicine is smoked, cannabis=evil" gang.

Off topic - reply to 6/6 email
Just got a form letter from my congresscritter. It's actually better than some I've gotten in the past - I can actually tell what issue is being discussed, and I have a clue as to the congresscritter's position. However... well, here's the paragraph that gets me:"The Institute of Medicine reported that 'cannabinoid drugs might offer broad spectrum relief not found in any other single medication.' It also concluded that the future of cannabnoid [sic] drugs as medicine is not in smoked marijuana, but rather in the isolated development of its components, the cannabinoids and their synthetic derivatives."First of all, where can I find the complete unedited IOM report online? I've never actually read it. But everything I've heard so far seems to indicate that it says there are conditions for which nothing else is effective, and it's referring to whole smoked cannabis. Am I correct? My rep goes on to continue the cry for "more research"... blah blah blah, when what I really asked for is them to "STOP ARRESTING PATIENTS". I feel the need to write a reply, but I'd like to know the specifics on what the IOM says before I do. (A day or two to simmer down couldn't hurt also!) Have YOU written your congressperson lately? It's easy! Look for the easy link at http://www.norml.org/ - don't delay, voice your opinion today!
