Steve Garrett stands at the edge of Canadian wilderness thinking one thought: He needs more men.The 20-foot swath of power lines and cleared pine trees where he's standing, just north of Metaline Falls, is known to most folks as the U.S.-Canadian border. To Garrett, assistant chief of the U.S. Border Patrol's Spokane detachment, the border is a sieve through which the booming British Columbia marijuana industry flows.
His force of 29 agents, saddled with outdated technology and limited by some of the world's most rugged terrain, can't stop the march of smugglers in hiking gear carrying hockey bags filled with pot across 350 miles of border, Garrett said.Demand is soaring for an extremely potent, pricey strain of marijuana called B.C. Bud. Drug-enforcement agents estimate that hundreds of large growers in lower British Columbia are producing thousands of pounds of pot every month, most of it hydroponically. It's incredibly lucrative. Authorities believe the annual crop is worth at least a billion dollars on the streets of the United States. The pipeline flows into Spokane, city narcotics investigators say. Here, the marijuana is loaded onto trains, planes, buses and cars for distribution around the country.Click the above link to read the whole story!

B.C. Buds
Hello Dr. Ganj,Since Marc Emery has been posting in Cannabis.com's seed board I am reading what he writes. He sure deserves thanks at least from me for being so out there in the front lines. I remember seeing him on CNN but I can't remember which program. This is what Tom Paine suggested to do. I am running all the news articles thru Cannabis News and then putting them on a page of their own which is being sent to many people! I am adding around 7 or 8 a day and then finish with the news. I hope you like it so far. I bet I might still have 20 or 30 more to do! We are making our own press! Peace, FoM!

B.C. Buds
Let's do some simple math together, my friends. The whole article is worth reading (click above link) and it states, and I'll quote; "With increased enforcement, agents expect to confiscate more than 4,000 pounds of B.C. Bud this year along the 350 miles of border the Spokane detachment patrols from the Pacific Crest Trail to Glacier National Park. That number is thought to be a fraction of the marijuana that makes it across."Can you all visualize what 350 miles of Canadian border looks like? Can you see how truly remote and savage it is?Appreciate what a man will do when monetary gain is the motivator. Anything. Yes, and hiking through the rugged forest with army bags stuffed with tasty and potent pot, which once it reaches its target of the U.S. has increased in value by 20% is quite a motivator indeed, and no amount of patrolling will ever stop the flow of this desirable herb. By the time it reaches larger and more distant cities, it will easily have doubled in value. Wow, 100% mark up! That sure would be a hot stock, now wouldn't it? It is, and it is only going to invite others to get in on the rush. This has the makings of real trouble, and if the Canadians are smart, they'll see this coming and do the right thing. That of course, is to tell the Americans it's a supply problem, not an interdiction nightmare with no ending. Most of us are too young to remember the prohibition of alcohol from 1920-1933. Canada didn't go along with that total failure then, and Canada shouldn't go along with this total failure now! Canadian Mist, and Canadian Kali Mist should both be proudly exported without any legal impediments whatsoever. That my friends, is an easy solution to this whole marijuana mess.Dr. Ganj
