A central Berkeley medical cannabis club was robbed Wednesday afternoon after armed assailants held those inside hostage and made off with marijuana and cash. The robbery occurred at about 2:40 p.m. after two Latino males, armed with a gun and a knife, entered Medical Herbs, located on the 1600 block of University Avenue, Berkeley police Lt. Cynthia Harris said. Two others were waiting outside in a car during the robbery, Harris said.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing, Harris said. The robbers made off with $1500 in cash and just under a pound of marijuana, said Dorrit Geshuri, the club's director of special services. Two patients and five employees were inside Medical Herbs when the two robbers forced their way past a security guard into the club, Geshuri said. "It was unfortunate that there were patients there," Geshuri said. "They have it hard enough as it is." The assailants forced everybody inside the club on the floor, except for one wheelchair-bound patient, and then searched the club, Geshuri said. The ordeal lasted less than 10 minutes, she said. Geshuri said the two men were denied access to the club after they failed to present the security guard with a medical marijuana users' card. The card, issued by the Oakland Cannabis Buyers' Cooperative, ensures that only legitimate patients are given access to the marijuana, she said. The two men claimed they came to see the club's owner, prompting the security guard to fetch the manager, Geshuri said. The manager came outside, but did not recognize the men and returned to the club; but the men followed, she said. When the security guard asked the robbers to wait outside, one of the men pulled out a gun, Geshuri said. Police said the assailant armed with a gun is described as a Latino male between 26 and 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, with a thick mustache. He wore a reddish-brown plaid button-down shirt during the robbery, Harris said. The knife-wielding man is described as Latino male between 22 and 23 years old, with a height of six feet. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, Harris said. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A DEA JOKE
Hey, didn't some people in Hawaii just get popped by armed robbers because of MM? And how about that movie star family guy in California? Why aren't these DEA people giving our people police protection rather than busting them? Is it because they feel closer to the robbers in garb (black suit and tie, headgear to match (ninja style or something?). Maybe the guns they carry come from the same shops (they can sit and talk shop talk about the relative benefits of assault weapons-rounds per minute, forfeiture "curves", how best to market seized booty, where to fence it, the best booty reinvestment strategies, how to hide petty misattention to detail, protocol when it comes to who to shoot first, I think they call that "triage" in hospitals, for the rest of us, things like that. Now, of course, if the DEA wanted to avoid violence in society, they would call up Robert Stack, and ask him just how fast gang violence went down, and how fast the St. Valentine massacre stuff ended, after they gave up and let alcohol get legal again-it put people like the Capone brothers out of work fast-Maybe a lotta FBI and other "revenuers" got outa work also. I know a few pot clubs out west, that is, that could use a security guard or two more than they have, don't ya know. PAUL PETERSON

Cops and Robbers
This is one of the big reasons why a compassion club should be right next door to a donut shop.

Retired Police Officer testimony
I am neither for nor against marijuana. I do know that pot smoking causes law enforcement zero problems. The prohibition of pot causes police officers and others to die every day. And for what?

What's The Difference?
What's The Difference? If a DEA Squad or Local SWAT invades a medical distributor's facility with drawn weapons and steals the cash and stash, isn't it the same as the "VATO LOCOS" that did Berekeley's Medical Herbs Club? What's the Difference? Aren't they BOTH criminals and thugs? Aren't they both in denial about their lack of respect for us and our rights? What makes you think they are different when they went to thew same schools and walked the same mean streets that we did as teens. What is needed is to reign in the crooks. No matter whjat the uniform is "Holmes". Stop the bleeding and find religion. www.medijuana.com and adler4gov.com *We need help fast. I am still a candidate for Governor here in Hawaii. It can be done....... Jonathan Adler (Religious Freedom and Medcine are inter-linked)
