Marijuana Is Medicine!

Robert L. DuPont's April 27 op-ed on the medical marijuana issue unfortunately perpetuates a misconception regarding the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process for medication. It is not necessary for a medicine to "show superiority" (DuPont's words) to existing medicines in order to gain approval and an accepted place in the U.S. pharmacopeia. Rather, the medication must merely be superior to a placebo when tested in a controlled trial.
If DuPont's suggested standard for smoked marijuana were imposed on other categories of medications, we would never have seen the development of Tylenol and other alternatives to aspirin. Neither would we have seen the explosion in the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors similar to Prozac, such as Zoloft and Paxil (all brand names).Tylenol is not "superior" to aspirin, although it is better for some patients under some circumstances; Zoloft is not "superior" to Prozac, although it may prove more acceptable to some patients than other alternatives.Click the above link for the full story!Marijuana Policy Project's Web Site!http://www.mpp.org/

62 Years of Total Deception
Since the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, we have been given the same line of crap about how it'll ruin your life, it's a gateway drug...blah blah blah...What a tired, old, broken record. We've had enough. Vote these cretins out of office, and bring back reason!Dr. Ganj

stop the lies!
This country is run by hypocrites who KNOW the medical potential of cannabis. They just want to protect pharmaceutical corporations from a decline...what a government full of shit.

Before Prohibition!
Before prohibition there were dozens of potions containing cannabis that were obtainable over the counter or by prescription. Alcohol was also available by prescription during prohibition. Peace not WoDS, Stick!

I can't believe our country is run by liers!!!!!!
Thanks Keith for your comments and it's true. I believe what you say. This is what I noticed in the article, since Cannabis works better then a placebo, why is it illegal to obtain for medicine? Here's the quote from the above article. This is one more way to explain to people why these laws need to be changed! It is not necessary for a medicine to "show superiority" (DuPont's words) to existing medicines in order to gain approval and an accepted place in the U.S. pharmacopeia. Rather, the medication must merely be superior to a placebo when tested in a controlled trial.

Our president, DEA, FDA, and almost everyone else in power lies to the people. They even do it when they FACTS are right in their faces!!!! "Land of the free"....that is somewhat true, but not for long if they continue to lie.
