Seattle, Washington Noon Rally at Volunteer Park!

Hello Folks! This will be my only post to this Cc list, for obvious reasons. But I thought ya'll might be as interested in our outcome as we are in all of yours.Despite a cloudy, cold and blustery morning, and a terrible forcast, a hole opened in the clouds and the sun streamed down on Seattle for our MMM.
We met around noon at the small ampitheatre in Seattle's Capitol Hill, a mostly gay, very alternative and trendy scenester part of town.Police from E Precinct were extremely supportive and worked *with* us during the whole planning stages and permit authorization and provided up with patrol car escort front and back and stopped traffic at the intersections for us.We left at 1pm sharp. We had a long route, but it was almost all downhill, about three 1/2 miles. The pot parade spanned three wide city arterial blocks. 5 TV stations were there and we had a terrific rally right in the heart of the upscale retail core of downtown Seattle. It's called Westlake park, but it's all cement with a huge fountain and is right across from Nordstroms. Speakers included a Dr. Francis podrebarec from C.IA. (compassion in action) patient's co-op (a few days ago he defiantly signed a dozen AIDS patient's letter's on the steps of Harborview Hospital so they could legally smoke cannabis under our state's 1-692 citizen's initiative), 2 Libertarian party members, 1 Freedom Socialist Party member, the curator and owner of hemp.net, owner of Fremont Hemp (Seattle's only retail outlet left), 2 members of the Washington Hemp Education Network, and a bunch o' others, including myself. We got eclipsed from the local sunday paper by the NRA protest, Jessie Jackson's hostage release, 11 killed in a boating accident, 1 kid killed another injured in a mall shooting. But the TV news was good to us.I spent an hour on Seattle's right wing conservative talk show (KK)KVI and to my amazement the host was on our side and so were half of the callers. Tommorrow I'm on Kennedy's (formerly from eMpTyV) show for 3 hrs on KIRO Radio. We figure we had 3-4K marching and about 1K at the rally. We had signs, banners, an army of peacekeepers (including Seattle's famed Q-Safety Patrol). Photos will soon be on our website for all to see.It was a terrific opportunity to promote our annual Hempfest as well as a historic chance to participate in the first global pot protest ever in the world. It would be a great mistake to let this coalition crumble withoutseizing (poor choice of words?) the chance to exploit the potential we have for forming an actual global alliance. WE ARE NOW A THREAT TO THE STATUS QUO. WHERE THERE WAS A DRUG MASSACRE BEFORE...NOW THERE IS A TRUEWAR, AND *WE* ARE THE NON-VIOLENT ONES WITH TRUTH, SANITY, JUSTICE AND REASON ON OUR SIDE. It's about time. Thanks to everyone.
