The Atlanta Marijuana March Was Great!

Thank You!

I just got back from the Atlanta Marijuana March and Pot Festival. It was terrific with one exception. After three days solid of cold rain, Saturday in Atlanta turned out to be perfect weather-wise! The March began at City Hall East and made some turns until we were on the main throughfare of Downtown Atlanta - Peachtree Street!
It was glorious! We got many honks in support and pedestrians gave many raised fists in solidarity and many rushed to join us as they saw us marching by. It seemed like about a thousand marchers and for that brief moment, Marijuana Reform tookover Downtown Atlanta. I will never forget marching on the Peachtree Street with the police escorting us and stopping traffic for us! The March ended at Piedmont Park where the Eight Annual Great Atlanta Pot Festival was beginning with our arrival. We had great speakers and music. I was really happy to get to meet and talk with Gatewood Galbraith - that wildcard candidate for Kentucky Governor and with Stephen Gaskin - the patriarch and philospher of the the most successful and longest lasting commune in the United States - The Farm in Summerville, Tennesee. We were surrounded by police, of course, and the bad moment was when some folks sitting near the perimeter (rather unwisely) smoked pot where they could see. The whole park full of protesters turned and watched and naturally booed. It seemed so strange in the middle of so much freedom wewere being given to see someone actually being hauled off to jail for tokin. It was a great event and at least raised the awareness of those who witnessed it. Saturday night, there was a gathering of the Atlanta Rainbow Family and it was the perfect way to complete such a momentous day. From what I've seen so far, there seems to be a news blackout on the marches. Well, that does not really suprise me. But the word will get out. I believe we will have this March in Atlanta every year as long as marijuana isillegal. As we shouted while marching, FREE THE WEED!! FREE THE PEOPLE!! Thank You Celaya for another great article on The Million Marijuana March!
