WASHINGTON Two House Republicans are seeking federally funded drug testing in schools as a way to reduce youth violence. Supporters of the proposals, announced Wednesday, said random testing would help arm parents with the facts as they confront their children about drug use.
``The number one fear of parents, grandparents and family members is `Does my child have access to illegal drugs?''' Rep. John Peterson, R-Pa., said at a news conference. ``The only way to have drug-free schools is to follow the successful program of the military and the workplace.'' The Defense Department already has a drug-testing policy, as do many private companies. Click the above link for the full article!

drug testing in schools
I think that it is really pathetic if parents can't keep tabs on their own kids. Schools are not a source of daycare. For the violence thing it's probably the parents fault and deprive them of any kind of love or affection. Cops at schools aren't suppose to be their to tell on the students, their suppose to be their for the safety. So i think that it is bad for schools to get into the students personal life.

Actually if you look at it differently this might be a good thing (NOT).The actions of the police telling on kids and getting them in trouble will show the true color of law inforcement.First they want the kids to tell on the adults (DARE) and now they want to tell on the kids.Wow what a really mixed up government. Seems they are demonstrating another great deal of foolishness and quite possibly stupidity. As a notepray for those who are denied their medicine, and for those who would deny it to them.Regards,TomP.S. The Mayo health report really forsted me. lately I have been asking their ASK the DOCTOR some interesting questions about legal drugs they [prescribe, I have shown them the reference to the pain study. i also remind them of the pain and suffering they put my family through in the cover of medical care.I want them to know that if they are going to make statements that are hal-baked they should get their own house in order.

Your correct cryote! We really aren't a free country anymore and I hope that people see that aren't involved with reform. We are legislating personal morality at an alarming pace. People will be people and that should be ok. If no one but ourselves is hurt by our actions why should it be against the law? Thanks for your comment!Peace, FoM!

I wish these republicans would stop trying to federalize everything. They won't be happy until they control every aspect of our lives (our pocketbooks really, they couldn't care less about our lives) This type of thing should be left to the individual company or institution. These type of legislations are severely restricting our civil rights. But we won't believe Big Brother is enslaving us until it impacts our lives directly, when it does (and it will) YOU WON'T LIKE IT. Guaranteed
