Marijuana Art Show - The Healing Herb!
Source:
Santa Cruz, CA Eclectix is a Pacific Avenue store that carries, as it's name implies, many interesting objects d' art, clothing, and jewelry. In November, 1998, it hosted an art show opening that very well may be the first of it's kind.
Jean Hanamoto's computer-manipulated photographs of the only legal medicinal marijuana garden in California offers a surprising variety of vivid close-ups and lush vistas. "Cannabis is a graceful and beautiful hero", said Hanamoto, "In all it's different stages - leaf, bud and harvest - it is a joy to the artist in me". The images appear to be created in many different media, such as watercolor, oil, pencil and pen, but they all started as her original photographs. "I'm doing magic on my Mac!"Hanamoto, and her husband George, are active members of the Santa Cruz group WAMM (Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana). George has been diagnosed with glaucoma, and is using the drug to relieve the pressure on his eyes from the disease that could cause eventual blindness. It also aids in relieving pain from arthritis, and in controlling his high blood pressure. Part of the proceeds from the sale at Eclectix will go to the organization. "I'm grateful that there is something like WAMM to help out. As a co-op, it supports over 200 people with AIDS, cancer, MS, epilepsy, and other painful human miseries without sales of any kind. The work is entirely volunteer."For more information, call Artworks at (408) 683-2545 or Eclectix at (408) 426-8305.Artworks Frame & Gallery, 60 E. San Martin Ave. P.O. Jean's a fantasic artist! As a fellow wamm member i am a little biased, but Jean has really put a positive message to this sometimes painful issue. Thanks for all your support & good energy that you've brought to this movement.

You really are fortunate to live where you do!
You are very fortunate to live where you do! When we all step into marijuana reform we all have different reasons why and the medical marijuana issue is the one that is my passion. Valerie Corral, the pictures are from her garden, is truly an inspiration to me! I don't know her but I respect her from afar! She is a young Brownie Mary to me! Long Live Brownie Mary's Spirit! Peace, FoM!
