Gov. Jesse Ventura expressed disappointment at the Bush Justice Department's challenge to states' rights. In an interview with Salon.com published Monday, Ventura said he's less worried the federal government might be trampling on civil rights in its pursuit of terrorist suspects than he is that states' rights are being violated in certain cases, such as one involving physician-assisted suicide.
``At a time of war, we're all going to pay a price,'' Ventura said. ``We're all going to lose certain freedoms as a result of the safety that needs to be put in place.''But he added he's disturbed by Attorney General John Ashcroft's challenge of Oregon's physician-assisted suicide law. Oregon voters twice approved the law, but Ashcroft issued an order Nov. 6 barring it. Oregon is fighting in court to block the order.``I'm more worried about what Ashcroft is doing with the assisted suicide in Oregon than I am with these perpetrators,'' Ventura said.He said the medicinal use of marijuana is another issue where the federal government has stepped on states' toes. Seven states have passed laws approving the use of marijuana in medicine, but federal law prohibits the sale of marijuana for any purpose.Ventura added, ``When you have states' people passing these laws saying `This is what we want,' and the heavy hand of the federal government comes in and says, `We don't care what your citizens said. We are the boss,' that troubles me a lot more.''The governor said President Bush is disappointing him on the issue. ``He came in and told all of us governors that he was going to (follow) a federalism of giving powers back to the states, and yet it doesn't seem that that's happening at all,'' Ventura said. ``In fact, it seems the opposite is taking place.''On a separate matter, Ventura said he didn't believe school children must be required to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to demonstrate patriotism.``If you look at the young people who are over defending our freedom right now, every last one of them didn't have to do a mandatory Pledge of Allegiance, did they?'' he said. ``And yet they're still over there, aren't they?''He said patriotism comes from the heart. ``You don't have to sit and recite certain things en masse to prove you have patriotism for the freedom of our country,'' Ventura said.Complete Title: Ventura Disappointed in Bush Administration Stance on States' RightsNewshawk: Michael S.Source: Associated PressPublished: December 18, 2001Copyright: 2001 Associated PressRelated Articles & Web Site:Medical Marijuana Information Linkshttp://freedomtoexhale.com/medical.htmGov. Quayle in the Bush
Today in History:1989 Vice President Quayle sends out 30,000 Xmas cards with word 'beacon' spelled 'beakon.' On another
                                                            occasion he will point out, "Mars is essentially in the same orbit . . . somewhat the same distance from the
                                                            Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there
                                                            is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."
Yes,,this is not a joke,,this was the vice-president under shrub senior,,,,and I have a theory,,,I think that Dubya,,may actually be Dan Quayle with a facelift!

Attorney-General or God?
Who do you think has more clout? Who do you think has more influences in the halls of Justice? Who do you think has a plan to overcome ignorance and evil intentions of certain individuals in government? Well his name has three letters..... God! If I can win on religious rights in court here in Hawaii, I surely can obey the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the precedent set in Guam VS. Guererreo, that is still under judicial review after the Feds lost badly at Ras Makana's trial in Guam. We will prevail,. hope is not lost. Freedom is alive, but we will still have to fight for it.Never give up the good fight. I won't

Jesse for Prez
I saw an interview with Jesse a while ago (on Jay Leno, maybe?) in which he said (in so many words) that he didn't like what Bush was doing, and that he was going to mount a challenge in 2004.I can only hope that we have an election in 2004... almost 3 years to go...

....Right On Patrick.....
....I'm glad you decided to stay.....................if the true figures were known,I'll bet there's a whole lot more people who are fed up with things,,than there are people who are happy with things.It's unmistakebly clear that things have really gone into the bizarre.......but hope is all we got.,,and there are still people out there like Jesse Ventura,,,,,....It seems to be getting harder and harder to find,but there's hope out there.... somewhere.....
I think that the direction that things are going,will eventually lead to rebellions and revolutions,,,both of which will be brutally suppressed....."terror",has already been defined as,(this is quoted from the actual bill that is now law) ‘‘ ...involve acts dangerous to human life that are violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;...
 appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce civilian population to influence the policy of government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of government...."
...So,,in other words,,,demonstrations are pretty much a thing of the past..,we have reached the point where a federal law exsists that allows the government to decide if you are a "terrorist",,,and once they have decided that,they can incarcerate you under special "terrorist" laws,,,and all this basically means that the country has been hijacked by a group of false Americans,,who have gained power,and overruled the Constitution.........the coming year is going to be really astounding....dddd

Ashcroft as Cassius
I've read that his coworkers at the DOJ find him a joyless Puritanical sort who goes his own way, doesn't socialize, and as Shakespeare put it, "Seldom he smiles, and smiles in such a sort As if he mock'd himself and scorn'd his spirit That could be moved to smile at any thing."

Did anyone really beleive Bush when he said he would respect State's rights?Did anyone really beleive Asscrotch when he said he would not let his religious views interfere with his job?How can anyone beleive anything these guys say in a time of peace,let alone a time of war?(although war hasn't been formally declared) Our country is being run by liars! It is no wonder this country is going to hell.

Like The Don't Do Drugs Pencil
On the news awhile ago I saw where they printed " Don't Do Drugs " on pencils but they put it on the pencil in such way that kids were sharpening the pencils down and stopping at " Do Drugs "! Kids do the darndest things.

Hey, thats a good idea
Get a dark blue wind-breaker and put DEA (in yellow-orange, whatever the color is) broadly across the back, and then, under that and less prominent, something like "sucks" or even smaller "anti-DEA squad" or "in drugs we trust" Something.

Jesse!
I recall watching the election debate between Jesse and his competition prior to his becomming the guvnor of Minn. The Democrats and Replubicans were playing partisian politics and spewing the same ole tired election rhetoric we are used to hearing (you know, the lesser of two evil crap), while Jesse sat seemingly out of place and speaking from the heart about his views and the value of common sense in politics. I thought to myself at the time, this guy is going to get elected if the avarage joe in minnesota was paying any attention that night. Way to go Minnesota! Go Jesse. dddd thanks for the advice. I think I will stay here in America and fight these anti-clowns. In fact, I am gonna get myself an official-looking blue DEA winter jacket for Christmas. On the back in big yellow letters I am going to have printed; DEA SUCKS.

Shakespeare on Mullah Ashcroft
CAESAR   Let me have men about me that are fat;
   Sleek-headed men and such as sleep o' nights:
   Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look;
   He thinks too much: such men are dangerous.ANTONY   Fear him not, Caesar; he's not dangerous;
   He is a noble Roman and well given.CAESAR Would he were fatter! But I fear him not:
   Yet if my name were liable to fear,
   I do not know the man I should avoid
   So soon as that spare Cassius. He reads much;
   He is a great observer and he looks
   Quite through the deeds of men: he loves no plays,
   As thou dost, Antony; he hears no music;
   Seldom he smiles, and smiles in such a sort
   As if he mock'd himself and scorn'd his spirit
   That could be moved to smile at any thing.
   Such men as he be never at heart's ease
   Whiles they behold a greater than themselves,
   And therefore are they very dangerous.
   I rather tell thee what is to be fear'd
   Than what I fear; for always I am Caesar.
   Come on my right hand, for this ear is deaf,
   And tell me truly what thou think'st of him.

This proves I was right - Bush should worry
Mullah Ashcroft is Bush's worst enemy.The Democrats won't have to lift a finger to annihilate George Bush's platform as a compassionate conservative champion of states' rights.Mullah Ashcroft is destroying any chance Bush ever has in the future of stepping on that platform ever again.I don't know what Bush is thinking he's going to run as in 2004, but it won't be as a compassionate conservative champion of states' rights, because every time he tries to do that, assisted suicide and medical marijuana are going to come up in his wake. It's becoming a regular chant among the press. I have a feeling that no matter what Bush does between now and his next campaign, now that the press has learned to chant "physician-assisted suicide approved by Oregon voters and medical marijuana laws approved by voters in seven states" --- Bush is never going to be able to free himself from the political consequences of Ashcroft's actions in those areas.It's as if Ashcroft wants Bush to run as a champion of Big Christian federal government.By 2004 I don't see that Bush will have much choice left for the platform he will run on, because the record of his administration in domestic policy will certainly be firmly established by then as being one of religious extremism forced on unwilling states by a huge all-powerful dictatorial federal government.If I were Bush, I wouldn't see Ashcroft as my ally. I would see him as a Cassius, a lean and hungry man.
