Withdrawal from Marijuana?
Source: ABC News

WASHINGTONPeople who smoke marijuana every day become more aggressive when they quit, adding to evidence that users can go through withdrawal, U.S. researchers said today.
Dr. Elena Kouri and colleagues at Harvard University said they had shown objectively that when people stop smoking “pot,” there is a clear withdrawal syndrome. “This syndrome, although less dramatic than the withdrawal syndrome associated with alcohol, opiate or cocaine withdrawal, may contribute to relapse among those dependent on marijuana,” Dr. Alan Leshner, head of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), which funded the study, said in a statement. If people get grumpy when they don't have marijuana doesn't that say something about marijuana's potential as an ant-depressant?Click above link for the full article!

weed is psychologically addictive.
I have smoked all my waking hours for around 25 years, and i would like to stop & tobacco &alcohol too, but i have an addictive charactor trait & so i can't stop any of my vices.marijuana is the most vital drug of the three,i can cope without the other 2. My personality changes without weed,i do get agressive & easily angry.

oxycontin vs. marijuana
The fda has unleashed a new and dangerous drud called Oxycontin. If you havn't heard of it....you will. This drug is mostly prescribed to the elderly,or people with cancer and other people in great pain. Many of american youth are hopelessy addicted to this time released monster.Dr's are allowed to prescribe this poison for the dying .The point Iam tryying to make is they can give this highly addictive drug to the dying but this person doesn't have the right to take medical marijuana.Mark my words the FDA and the american people are going to be sorry.I'D rather be addicted to marijuana ,then oxycontin or any kind of opiate.Wake up america ,and to all the people who are "DOWN" with me on this suject peace.

How It Really Is
This isn't true. I stopped and so did my boyfriend. Mariquana is not addictive, neither of us went through withdraw. I have been smoking for around a year and a half. I smoked almost three different times a day for the last 6 or 7 months straight. I was the definition of a pothead. I smoked in the morning, before work, and then again afterwork. I gave it up easily. I can sit and watch people smoke it and lack the urge to join in. It was easy to give up. You don't get withdraw. Of anything you feel healthier.

mariquana has its time and place
I personally have been smoking pot for three years. I have been off of it for two weeks and don't plan on going back. I have been very irritated and have a short fuse. I believe weed can be good for the terminally ill. I also believe that alcohol is worse than mariquana. I'm personally a alcoholic as well. I think alcohol should be illegal before weed. I don't condone anyone for smoking-because it does have its advantages. But bottom line it is addictive.

cannabanoid-anger
Maybe in some cases being forced to quit something you enjoy did lead to rise in anger. Take sex away from me and I'll probably go back to beating up whoever wants to look at me cross. I'm not trying to be funny. It could have something to do with the "feel-good" hormones released, but I started when I was about 13-14 with very habitual use of cannabis as long as there was sumthin decent to have. From when I was about 10-13 I went around the neighborhood kicking the sh*t out of anyone my friends wanted to( may sound funny but when some 15-25 year olds are holdin you down and punchin you in the head it's easy for an 11-year-old to come up and kick you in the face a few times). My point isn't that this was cool or should be glorified. But, since I've been stimulating myself with THC(even when I go for weeks because there's no hydro around) I've been in probably 2 fights and that was saving a friend not helping them win. I was expelled from school when I was 12 and since 1993 I've graduated from High School,Junior College, and am now making fifty-thou a year in my buddy's internet service. I seriously believe that with the anger managment problems I had my whole childhood and adolescence I would be in Prison right now if it wasn't for buds (and the fact that I realized I needed sumthing to calm me back then). There's no difference when I've gone for three or four weeks without. Maybe I am an exception but a lot of the people in the same gangs I ran with calmed down and actually started showing sympathy towards the world. After they realized the effects of marijuana that is. This all could be coincidence but I don't want the world to blow up anymore and I haven't smoked in a while. By the way I'm only 22.

Drug Associated with Violence, Crime, Insanity
. . . Dr. Alan Leshner, head of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) . . . NIDA, eh? Now, there's an unbiased source, if there ever was. A source without an axe to grind. A souce sans agenda. A source who's independence and objectivity is sung far and wide, all over this land. A source as pure as the driven snow. A source ... well, you get the picture.smoke marijuana every day become more aggressive when they quit . . .see:Cannabis Helps Keep Fans Calmhttp://www.cannabisnews.com/news/6/thread6051.shtml...Fans Too Relaxed for Fightshttp://www.cannabisnews.com/news/6/thread6056.shtml- - -Jason shares with us:I don't know about anyone else but as for myself, I smoke and am trying to quit. Notice the word "trying". Pot is addictive. If you belive it is, then it is. (For you.) Like shopping, or internet chat rooms, or whatever. I have no doubt that if you believe that you are "addicted" or "can't stop" something, then that's true. For you. When someone has faith that they can't do something, I always know they are correct.. . .Pot is addictive.seeCLAIM #9: MARIJUANA IS AN ADDICTIVE DRUG http://www.pdxnorml.org/Exposing_09_1095.html

Addicted....
I don't know about anyone else but as for myself, I smoke and am trying to quit. Notice the word "trying". Pot is addictive. It promotes lazy justifications for not taking full part in life to your utmost potential and yes, you do go through withdrawls. All those smokers who rant and rave about withdrawls not really existing are blinded. Think about it...are they ever really out of weed? Have they ever tried to quit? "I could quit if I wanted to but I don't want to." Aren't those the words of an addict? The war on drugs may be totally brainless and without wisdom but denial rages on the other side - the side of the "casual" smoker. A drug is a drug is a drug no matter which way you slice it. If it chemically alters your perception of life, if it can cease being just a fun social thing and become a complete way of thought interrupting the progress of your ultimate and successful self, if you've ever said "I can quit, I just don't want to" then it's a drug and your addicted.

The Facts

Let's look at it honestly folks. Strictly speaking, no one has ever overdosed on Marijuana. Its impossible. What is the root of Marijuana being illegal then? The truth is this, if you drink too much alcohol, you can get sick and possible die. This CANNOT happen with Marijuana. And yet, alcohol is regulated and legal. You cannot smoke "too much" pot. This debate is such a waste of time! All monies being allocated for Marijuana prosecution would be better spent in medicinal research! C'mon lawmakers let's ignore the lobbyists and, for once, make laws in favor of the the truth!

Realize It

Marijuana is clearly a drug and shows clearly that its quitting will display withdrawal symptoms. In all truth, the war on drugs encompassing marijuana is a farce. The government needs to start looking at its qualities and testing it for a greater medicinal future such as use as an anti-depressent. As far as it being a gateway drug, then what the hell are alcohol and tobacco?

Maybe Cannabis Is Truly Helpful!

If you think about it didn't they determine our brains our kind of programmed for a form of cannabanoid? If that's true well it would be only natural to become a little bummed out but stopping drinking coffee would be harder because of the caffeine withdrawal headaches people can get!

You should see my girlfriend when she doesn't eat.I think this indicates withdrawal symptoms of food addiction. Lets outlaw food!

BIG PILE OF HORSE S*** !!!

People get VERY edgy, irritable, and usually suffer from pounding headaches when going through caffeine withdrawal. There is no physical withdrawal from pot, and even the psychological symptoms are only observed with chronic high-dosage use. Who knows, maybe the people were grumpy before they started using pot, and just returned to their old ways after stopping!
