Deporting for a marijuana conviction?
Source: Ohio.com

Joao Herbert will have to wait at least three more weeks to learn whether he is headed to an Ohio prison or Brazil.Herbert, 20, of Wadsworth, is charged with violating probation by fleeing the state last August after learning U.S. immigration officials planned to deport him because of a conviction for trafficking in marijuana.
Herbert, who was 9 years old when he was adopted from a Sao Paulo orphanage, can be sent back to Brazil because of a 1996 federal law that makes any non-citizen convicted of all but the lowest drug offenses subject to detention and mandatory deportation.Herbert applied for citizenship when he was 17, but the process wasn't complete before his Aug. 21, 1997, arrest for selling 7 1/2 ounces of marijuana to an undercover officer.Should a person be deported for a marijuana conviction?

I think thats wrong!!

I am very pissed off that Joao Herbert might have to be deported for selling less than a half Pound!! I think this is very unfair that just because of where he's from he has to leave the country. I am going back to Sao Paulo this summer, where the weed is the best around!!!
