Police seized cannabis with a street value of £50,000 yesterday from a health food shop openly selling it. Tony's Hemp Corner in King's Cross, London, which has sold cannabis for medical use to more than 250 people with multiple sclerosis, cancer and Aids for several years, was raided by officers from Islington police station. Around 40 plants and cannabis resin were seized. The proprieter, Tony Taylor, was taken to the station for questioning. Chris Sanders, who saw the raid, described it as "friendly and relaxed".
"The police didn't come busting their way in or anything, it was very softly softly," he said. "The health food shop downstairs was still open." Mr Sanders, a member of the Cannabis Coalition, added: "The police will find plenty of evidence of possession with intent to supply because Tony was completely open about what he was doing. If he is charged it will be a very important test of the courts' resolve to prosecute people sup plying cannabis on humane grounds." Mr Taylor's customers have to fill in a form, undergo a 20-minute interview and provide him with a doctor's letter. Last Saturday, Mr Taylor told the Guardian that his trade was tolerated by local authorities; in King's Cross, police had the sex and cocaine trades to worry about, he said. Interesting...
I do not know how th eBritish court system works; however, if they are able to prove that the police have been ignoring this issue up until the press reported it, something tells me they may have good grounds to dismiss the case. And if that is true it should open up a flood gate for people all over England to sell medical marijuana. Cool.

I knew....
....after reading the article about this guy a week ago that he was gonna get busted. You can't go telling a newspaper that the people who are supposed to be busting you for growing illegal plantlife are looking the other way. Even if they were looking the other way once people find out the cops themselves aren't even enforcing the law they freak. So what do the cops do? Deny that they knew he was growing weed and bust him. Why couldn't the cops just be like "Yeah, he's growing weed and we could care less. He's not hurting anyone." Why can't police officers stand up and just say the drug laws are bullshit and they refuse to enforce them. That's what we need. We need the peoplen who are responsible for enforcing these policies (the cops) on our side. If the police ever refused to enforce a law that law would cease to exist. But I guess we're not living in the twilight's zone are we?Adam
