On February 17th, representatives from 17 AIDS organizations around the country sent a formal letter to federal Drug Czar Barry McCaffrey in the Clinton White House, imploring him to stop obstructing compassionate medical-marijuana use for AIDS patients.
In gentle yet forthright language, the letter addressed the need to "break the bureaucratic logjam," emphasizing that government approval for many controversial pharmaceutical treatments has been allowed before research completion, while patients are still savagely persecuted for using marijuana, despite its well-established efficacy at counteracting AIDS-wasting syndrome. Cannabis needs to be made a fast track drug immediately!
