Through its Division of Neuroscience and Behavioral Health, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) is conducting an 18-month study to evaluate the therapeutic value of marijuana and its chemical components, particularly cannabinoids such as THC. The study will include an assessment of both the benefits and risks of marijuana and cannabinoids for human health. The study goals are described in detail in the Statement of Task.
