Vancouver -- Advanced Nutrients, a BC company that makes 86 products for the marijuana cultivation industry, is featured in Forbes magazine's November 10th edition. Forbes details the fast-growing market for marijuana fertilizers and Canadian marijuana in a cover story that has already been attacked by the US Drug Czar.The privately owned company, founded by Mike Straumietis, Robert Higgins and Eugene Yordanov, has C$12 million in sales and 70 employees. Ironically, its products have even been praised by the official growers of the US government's marijuana supply in Mississippi, while AN also provides medical marijuana to Steve Kubby, an American medical marijuana refugee living in Canada. "We brought the Forbes reporter and photographer to high-tech agricultural facilities where we subsidize medical patients who have government licenses to grow their own medicine," explains Straumietis. "We're the only North American company that admits to doing live research on real marijuana," Straumietis says. "And testing proves our products out- perform the competition, so that sick and dying patients get more medicine with less hassle." Advanced Nutrients will be sponsoring major scientific research and other programs that will allow a Canadian AIDS group to provide free medical marijuana, seeds, and fertilizers to patients licensed by Health Canada to grow their own marijuana. Advanced Nutrients is also establishing a new company, Advanced Cannaceuticals, to develop affordable cannabis medicines, expected to be a billion dollar market in the next few years. A special issue of Nature magazine reported that cannabinoids, the active ingredients in marijuana, are selective anti-tumour compounds, and can kill tumour cells without affecting healthy cells.
